Lately, I have been learning about nutrition and diet again. It's been a while since I was actively researching and learning about this topic.

Let's talk carbs! As one of the three key macronutrients, carbohydrates are the primary fuel for our cells. Think of them in two categories:
🍞 Complex Carbs: These digest slowly, providing lasting energy and promoting stable blood sugar.
🍬 Simple Carbs: These are absorbed fast, which can cause quicker rises in blood sugar.
Your choices between these types, and how much you eat, directly impact your energy levels and metabolic health after eating.

Ideally, we want to choose Complex Carbs. Here's where to find complex carbs—the kind that give you steady, long-lasting energy:

1) Wholesome Grains: Like brown rice, oatmeal, and whole-wheat bread.
2) Beans & Lentils: Think chickpeas, black beans, and lentils.
3) Starchy Veggies: Your filling favorites like potatoes, corn, and peas.
4) Non-Starchy Veggies: Almost all other veggies! Broccoli, spinach, carrots, and peppers are great examples.

I am compiling a new, comprehensive list of postgraduate degrees in counselling, counselling psychology, educational psychology, clinical psychology and general psychology (research) at Masters and PhD / Doctorate levels. This is the 2nd time I have done this. The first was when I was applying for Masters in Psychology programmes in Melbourne. I applied for more than 60 programmes at the time.

While compiling this list (I have been slowly doing this across a few weeks now), I found UPSI (Sultan Idris Education University)'s website quite interesting and interactive. Rather than having their academic programmes listed under their faculties / schools, their main page guides students to a LIST of all programme, then when I click on the programme, it leads to the programme page. I also like the AI chatbot, Prof Gaurus (what a name!) and it has been really helpful.

A bit all over the place lately. Having interest in many areas including qualitative research, business strategy, psychometrics, writing, content creation, and coding, just to name a few. I suppose this is what life is. Things aren't always clear. Currently, I am learning Python, but I am not sure where this will get me.

Today, while searching for whether there are any psychometricians in malaysia, I found the Malaysian Psychometric Association, I thought, "Wow, I think I have found my tribe!". Trying to apply for membership only to realise the association may not be active for a while and their facebook group only has 19 members. I did join the facebook group to be updated if there are any new posts. I wonder if there is a need in Malaysia for researchers to develop new validated questionnaires and can I make a livable income on it??

Two months into a new role. Somehow, I am reminded today about the ways I am stuck in terms of career progress the psychology field in Malaysia.

Having a Master of Professional Psychology plus the internship completed allowed me to work in Australia, yet in Malaysia, a country where psychology practice is still at its infancy, I don’t have a clear legal backing to practise as a registered psychologist.

There is a professional body backed by the MOH for clinical psychologists, and another body backed by the Women and Family ministry regulating counsellors, Psychologists trained in sub-fields of Psychology including Educational Psychology, Health Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Sports and Exercise Psychology, Organisational Psychology remain unrecognised and not acknowledged enough.

It is my hope that PSIMA can urge the government to set up a Psychologists act to govern all psychologists, not just clinical psychologists. This will really help these psychologists who are equally qualified and trained in their sub-fields to serve the community. Otherwise, I am afraid, more psychologists in these sub-fields will just search for greener pastures in countries like USA, Canada, Australia, UK, and Singapore, to name a few.

Here are some of the snapshots of my fitness journey since May 2025!

I started with trying out 1Fit’s trial and then signing up for the 12+3 months membership while doing ClassPass trial as well.

Even with an ankle sprain and slipped disc, I was able to do most movements, and I think these classes have helped me build more confidence in myself. Can you believe I actually finished 14 hours of classes, including gym workouts?

I am excited to see how my next few weeks will be exploring more Pilates types like Chair, Barre, Mat and hopefully Cadillac, Yoga types like Hatha, Ashtanga, Yin, Vinyasa, and also Cycling classes..

One and a half months in my new job. I have never learned so much technical info in such a short time before, and this is post-uni, where my learning has to be as fast as possible so I can deliver the results in successful sales calls. Busy week ahead, hope I can stay focused..

Lately I have been making some handmade / DIY Skincare products..

This is a traditional body butter, made by whipping the set body butter which was put in the fridge for around 40 mins, using an electric handheld immersion blender.

For Malaysian weather, it’s quite good that it didn’t melt after sufficient whipping and manual stirring.

It has 50% sweet almond oil, 50% Shea butter and a few drops of Rosemary essential oil.
