TUNING LEGENDS, ICONIC JAPANESE BUILDS, 2025 TAS DEBUTANTES AND MALAYSIA’S BEST TUNERS WILL GREET FANS AT TOKYO AUTO SALON KUALA LUMPUR 2025
The attendance of six Japanese automotive legends and icons, the arrival of several iconic builds from Japan, a showcase of Malaysia’s best tuners and a lower ticket price of only RM48 per day will welcome fans for the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur to be held from 8-10 August at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
Returning to Malaysia will be Top Secret’s legend Smokey Nagata (his third successive visit to TASKL); Liberty Walk’s founder and owner Wataru Kato; RE Amemiya founder Isami Amemiya; KUHL Racing’s Takahiro Kataoka and J’S Racing’s president Hisaaki Murakami. Also returning after his first visit in 2024 is Hiroshi Tamura also known as father of the modern GT-R.
Fans can also look forward to an elaborate display and merchandise booths by Top Secret, Liberty Walk, KUHL Racing, J’S racing and Veilside.
Top Secret will be displaying Top Secret VR32 Stealth Nissan GT-R, a car that is referred to as the ultimate GT-R, combining a BNR32 with an R35 engine, and is the only one of its kind in the world, a masterpiece by Smokey. The VR32 Stealth is powered by the R35’s 3.8 litre engine and boasts a horsepower of 1072.
Liberty Walk meanwhile, will showcase two of its showstoppers – the world-famous Ferrari F40 and the Super Silhouette ER34. The Ferrari F40 was unveiled in 2023 and quickly gained worldwide notoriety for its trademark bolted wide arches and suspension drop. This is the same car that had been reportedly removed from Ferrari’s official registry due to the extensive modifications and other aftermarket parts, that is said to deviate from Ferrari's design philosophy.
The Super Silhouette ER34 meanwhile, was a build Liberty Walk shook the scene with at Tokyo Auto Salon 2020 and was modeled after the KDR30 Skyline driven by Masahiro Hasemi in the 1982 and 1983 Super Silhouette Formula race series, with its red and black livery now legendary with Tomica diecast models.
A definite eye-catcher will also be the CREWCH Delusion GT-R R356C, a concept introduced by CREWCH at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon and envisions a next-generation GT-R with bodywork that has been completely redesigned with supercar styling cues.
For rotary fans, rotary guru RE Amemiya will be showcasing its MATSUKIYO KIZAMI 3ROTAR NA-7. Powered by a RE20B engine, it has an engine displacement of 1962cc that produces 435 horsepower. This is also a car that made its debut at Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 with custom bodywork that is virtually all-new, with only the roof carried over from a FD RX-7 donor car.
Another Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 debutante to arrive will be the ALESS Century Complete WL. The 518 horsepower beast driven by a 4960cc engine represents the pinnacle of Japanese luxury sedans and is given a chic make over with ROZEL’s 4-piece aero kit and air suspension system.
“One of the most daunting tasks we face every year is the selection of special cars to be brought in from Japan. To be honest there are a lot, but again this also depends on the availability as many of these top tier cars are on tour to be showcased at shows worldwide,” said Element X Strategies Director and Chief Executive Officer Jason Yap.
“And so it is always a fine juggling act between bringing in the most talked about car in the world and the most recently displayed at Tokyo Auto Salon this year.”
TASKL25 is licensed and modeled directly after the world famous annual Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan. The show is hosted in Malaysia by Element X Strategies as the Sole Official Licensee in collaboration with San Ei Corporation as the owner of the Tokyo Auto Salon intellectual property, and the Tokyo Auto Salon Association. More than 90,000 visitors have so far been recorded over the two individual shows in 2023 and 2024.
On the lower ticket prices, Yap said: “The interest has been phenomenal over the first two years. However, we want to make the show even more accessible to car fans, enthusiasts, families and the masses to enjoy one of the most exciting tuner and performance car shows in the country.
“TASKL is equally gaining traction amongst tuners in Japan. There is also a good reason why personalities like Smokey Nagata and Hiroshi Tamura keep returning to Malaysia and this is because they are equally amazed and excited with Malaysia’s tuning scene.”
TASKL25 will also be introducing a new and exciting element this year called Malaysia’s Finest Tuners (MFT) which will be a specially dedicated area to showcase, promote and pay tribute to top Malaysian car tuners. This is very much in line with bringing Japanese and Malaysian tuners together with the hope of exploring opportunities in both countries.
The gathering of top tier modified cars at TASKL25 will also be made even more exciting with an auto styling competition to be judged by a special panel of Japanese tuners; the gathering of car clubs; and an area dedicated to displaying some of the rarest collection of cars in Malaysia.
For diecast collectors and enthusiasts, TASKL25 will also be unleashing a Toyota Supra MK4 chase and super chase cars during the show. Only a handful of these chase and super chase cars will be made available. This is in addition to the Matte Frost Yellow Toyota Supra MK4 special edition annual series that was introduced for sale last month and priced at RM135.
In collaboration with The Model Car Show Malaysia (TMCS), fans and collectors can also look forward to a Mini TAS which will be a dedicated diecast display and sale area.
TASKL25 will also feature special themed zones - Sakura Street & Midnight Tokyo; stage performances; Japan A Girls, a two-hour simulator endurance race by RaceRoom; a Car-Meets-Cosplay competition; a meet and greet with racing driver and AUTOBACS Ambassador Zen Low; Malaysian artist extraordinaire Zameer Pentbrush who will be doing a live demonstration powered by Castrol; and a lucky draw prize of a motorcycle sponsored by EXN Lubricants.
And for the very first time in collaboration with the Equestrian Association of Malaysia and LEXUS, TASKL25 is also proud to announce its participation in the Prime Minister Cup CSI1* Presented by Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2025 (Sea Games Qualifiers Round 4) to be held from 25-27 July 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Polo Club.
This partnership reflects a shared appreciation for precision, power, and grace, the qualities that define both the world of equestrian sport and automotive lifestyle, in elevating the experience where refined living and elite performance come together seamlessly.
The run-up to TASKL25 meanwhile, will be fueled by Malaysia GT-R Festival that will take place at Gamuda Cove’s Experience Gallery on 2 August, and will include a meet & greet with Tamura; an autograph signing session; and a group photo session. The Malaysia GT-R Festival will also crown the Best Tuning, Best Design and Tamura’s Choice of GT-R. For RM399, participating GT-R owners will be entitled to the following:
Exclusive GT-R Festival t-shirt
Limited edition TASKL25 x GT-R logo decals
A coveted Midnight Club decal
Complimentary one-day adult ticket to TASKL25
Special price for the purchase of additional TASKL25 tickets

That very same day, TASKL25 will also collaborate with FL5 Malaysia to hold the very first FL5 Type R Official Track Day and Mega Gathering at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit/time attack and car parade.
