A FATHER WHO CARRIED HIS DAUGHTER ON HIS BACK DESPITE HEARTBREAK GETS A HELPING HAND
George Philips has been raising his daughter since she was just eight months old after his relationship with the child's mother ended over financial difficulties.

Sky Light founder, Ndumba Jonas, met the father while he was walking from Kaisosi to Sauyemwa with his young daughter on his back. After the story was shared, it received widespread public attention, prompting people to offer assistance.

Florian was one of the community members who reached out. Yesterday, he delivered a box of essential items for George and his daughter.

Florian also offered words of encouragement to men, urging them not to suffer or die in silence.

"Everyone needs a helping hand," he said.

She also raised concerns about local procurement, claiming that a teacher from Ngondo has been contracted to supply uniforms to ALPO School by ordering them from South Africa. She argued that local tailors have the skills and capacity to manufacture the uniforms and should be given the opportunity instead.

HAINGURA FAMILY PROTESTS
A century-old breadbasket of the Haingura family has been turned into a gravel pit without compensation, the family said.

The Haingura family staged a protest against the ongoing extraction of gravel from their land. The family claims that the Rundu Town Council authorized Chico Company to mine gravel from their field after they rejected an offer of N$60,000 for permission to do so. They say mining continues without the consent of the headwoman or the landowners and without any compensation.

According to the family, repeated requests to meet with the Rundu Town Council have gone unanswered.

The information session held by the Development Bank of Namibia Board in Rundu today ended with strong criticism from a resident, Romanus Kandjimi.

2. How many DBN-funded construction businesses are owned by entrepreneurs from Kavango?
3. How many entrepreneurs from Kavango have received DBN funding for trucking or transport businesses?
4. Across both Kavango regions, how many companies constructing schools are owned by, or have at least one owner from Kavango?
5. How many service stations has DBN sponsored in Kavango?

DRUNK-DRIVING CASES DECLINE IN KAVANGO EAST
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure, and Housing praised the decline in drinking-and-driving cases in Kavango East.

Sgt. Haakuria attributed the success to identifying periods when people have money and celebrations increase, allowing traffic officers to intensify operations and prevent drunk driving.

The Regional Commander of the Kavango East Police outlined several measures that could help address these challenges and improve road safety.
