🚨FULL-TIME: Riyad Mahrez’s spot kick proved decisive as Algeria booked their place in the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

The Desert Foxes were the better side in a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso in their Group E encounter at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Morocco’s capital.

Mahrez sent the Stallion’s goalkeeper Hervé Koffi the wrong way from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute.

Algeria will next face Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday at 18:00, with Burkina Faso taking on Sudan at the same time.

The matchday concludes with a Group F clash between defending champions Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon at 22:00.

🚨FULL-TIME: Sudan’s 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea in their Group E encounter has kept them in the race for a place in the knockout stage at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), while the defeat saw Equatorial Guinea miss out on the knockout rounds for the first time in the tournament’s history.

The decisive moment came in the 74th minute at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Morocco, when Equatorial Guinea’s Luís Asué turned the ball into his own net to hand Sudan the win.

The loss also marked the first time Equatorial Guinea have suffered back-to-back defeats at Afcon in their five tournament appearances, having opened their campaign with a 2-1 loss to Burkina Faso.

Sudan will next face Burkina Faso on Wednesday at 18:00, while Equatorial Guinea take on Algeria at the same time.

The matchday continues with another Group E clash as Algeria face Burkina Faso at 19:30, before the action concludes with a Group F encounter between Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon at 22:00.

🚨FULL-TIME: Mozambique recorded their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) victory in six tournament appearances after edging Gabon 3-2 in their Group F encounter at the Stade Adrar in Agadir, Morocco.

Mozambique took the lead in the 37th minute when Faisal Bangal calmly slotted home to score his third goal in nine international appearances.

Their advantage was doubled five minutes later after being awarded a penalty, which Geny Catamo confidently converted by sending Gabon goalkeeper Loyce Mbaba the wrong way in the 42nd minute.

Gabon pulled one back deep into first-half stoppage time when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found the back of the net in the 45+5 minute to make it 2-1 at the break.

The second half saw Mozambique restore their two-goal cushion through Diogo Calila in the 52nd minute, as the defender netted his first international goal in his fifth appearance for the national team.

Gabon kept the contest alive when Alex Moucketou-Moussounda scored in the 76th minute, but Mozambique held firm in the closing stages to secure a historic victory.

Mozambique will next face Cameroon on Wednesday at 21:00, while Gabon take on Côte d’Ivoire at the same time.

The matchday continues with Group E action as Equatorial Guinea face Sudan at 17:00, followed by Algeria versus Burkina Faso at 19:30.

Group F action concludes the day with Côte d’Ivoire taking on Cameroon at 22:00.
