NPFL CLUBS AND NFA AGREE ON TRANSITION TO SELF-MANAGED LEAGUE
The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has announced significant strides toward transforming the Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) into a self-managed entity, following a successful Chairmen’s Forum held on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at Football House.
The strategic meeting brought together chairpersons and representatives of NPFL clubs to deliberate on the future of Namibia’s top-tier men’s football league. Among the key outcomes was the unanimous endorsement of three newly promoted clubs from the Nationwide First Division: Eleven Arrows FC, Life Fighters FC, and Rundu Chiefs FC.
Interim General Secretary of the NFA, Cassius Moetie, confirmed that all NPFL clubs present reaffirmed their support for the current Association Management Model, describing it as a stabilizing framework for Namibian football. However, Moetie also noted a major strategic shift as the NPFL expressed its commitment to transitioning toward a self-managed league structure aligned with global best practices in football governance.
In a move to spearhead this transition, the Forum appointed an interim committee chaired by Nicanor Ashipala Tuemuna . Other members include Frans Mbidi, Fabio Do Rego, Americo de Almeida, and Mathias Haufiku. The committee has been tasked with developing a transformation roadmap, which will be subject to consultation and agreement with the NFA.
The NFA welcomed these developments as a progressive step in strengthening domestic football structures and enhancing the operational independence of the NPFL.
