Judge Marlize Du Plessis is expected to deliver her ruling today on Sacky Shanghala’s application for leave to appeal.

Shanghala is challenging her earlier decision that granted him only partial relief in his bid for additional document disclosures.

The judge will also engage the defence lawyers to explain why they have not responded to the pre-trial memorandum that was served to them in 2021.

POLICE SOUND ALARM: The police in the Kunene Region are requesting the public’s help in managing a severe wildfire affecting the areas of Werda, Onguta, and Omuheke within the Sesfontein Constituency.

Chief Inspector Vehangaiza Hindjou, Head of Community Affairs in the Kunene Region, confirmed that the fire ignited in the late afternoon.

The fire is also reported to be moving from Hobatere to Werda Checkpoint.

Authorities have been notified and are en route to the fire’s location.

Chief Inspector Hindjou is advising community members to exercise caution and remain vigilant.

She also says manpower on the ground is limited; therefore, she asks those who can to assist in controlling the blaze.

Currently, no human casualties have been reported.

This is a developing story.

The Erongo Police traced four men who allegedly bullied, grabbed, and ate eggs belonging to a young vendor at Independence Beach in Walvis Bay.

A video circulating on social media angered social media users, as it created the impression that the men did not pay for the eggs while also spewing hate speech toward the boy, who is believed to be an illegal immigrant.

Regional Commander Nikolaus Kupembona said, "All the individuals implicated in the incident involving the boy selling eggs were identified, apprehended, and brought to the police station. The victim was also located, and during the interview, it was established that the suspects claimed they had eaten the eggs but paid for them on the same day, a statement the victim confirmed."

Commissioner Kupembona added that, in the absence of a formal complaint or charges, since the victim declined to lay charges against the suspects, the police issued a warning. The suspects were told to refrain from such behaviour, or they would face serious consequences.

The Commissioner said, "They all acknowledged that they were wrong, promised to change their behaviour, and were released."
