Drugs Worth Over N$3.5 Million Found at Ariamsvlei Border Post

A major drug discovery was made at Ariamsvlei Border Post on Sunday, 19 October 2025, around 01h20. During a routine patrol, officials followed suspicious shoe prints leading under a bridge near the entry point, where they found three large bags hidden from view.

Inside, they uncovered 59 parcels and 55g of loose cannabis (totaling 60.55kg), along with 4,073 mandrax tablets. The estimated street value of the drugs is over N$3.5 million. No suspects have been identified and police investigations are ongoing.

Katutura Residents Demand Urgent Sanitation Action from City of Windhoek

Windhoek- Tired of living in filth, Katutura Central residents took their frustrations straight to the City of Windhoek offices on Monday, delivering buckets of human waste to highlight ongoing sewage and sanitation failures in their community.

Social activist Shaun Gariseb that led the protest said the protest mandate is to expose the ongoing health hazard caused by leaking drains, broken pipes and a lack of proper sanitation in their communities.

“We came to make sure the City of Windhoek officials have a k*k Monday, we made sure it smells as bad as it smells where we live by bringing them the “shxt” in buckets.” said social activist Shaun Gariseb

Despite the city’s commitment to global standards like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal which promises clean water and sanitation for all and the N$1.7 billion water upgrade project, residents say little has changed.

“The whole of Katutura stinks. It's time they fix this.” Garised added “We’re done waiting.”

Tirelo Ya Sechaba started broadcasting on 1st April 1981 on the Omurari FM (formerly known as Otjiherero radio) as Setswana radio with two staff members only.

The broadcast could only be heard in Windhoek and Gobabis on a 50km radius.

In 1996 we were given time on FM (frequency modulation) and has expanded to places such as Corridor, Aminuis and Epukiro RC, Rundu, Katima Mulilo and Oshakati.
