Full-Time in Monrovia 🇱🇷3 - 1 🇳🇦

The Brave Warriors fall 3–1 to Liberia in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

A late strike from David Ndeunyema (87’) gave Namibia a well-deserved consolation after a challenging night at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium.

Next up, the Warriors travel to Tunisia to face the Eagles of Carthage on 13 October at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Rades. 🇹🇳

NAMPORT NEDBANK POWERHOUSE CHALLENGE RETURNS FOR 2025 EDITION

The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport), in partnership with Nedbank Namibia and the Powerhouse Cycling Club have announced the Walvis Bay Namport Nedbank Powerhouse Challenge 2025, set to take place from 1–2 November 2025 in Namibia’s port city.

The highly anticipated two-day event will bring together Namibia’s top cyclists, runners, and fitness enthusiasts for a weekend celebrating health, endurance, and community spirit.

The programme will feature a diverse lineup of events catering to both professional and recreational athletes, including running events- the 21km Half Marathon, 10km, and 5km fun runs, as well as cycling events comprising the 70km and 30km Mountain Bike (MTB) races, and the 100km and 50km Road Races.

All cycling competitions will be sanctioned by the Namibian Cycling Federation, ensuring top-tier standards and strong participation from elite competitors across the country and beyond. Athletes and fitness lovers are encouraged to register early to be part of this competitive sporting event.

NAMIBIAN FOOTBALL LEADERS JOIN FIFA COMMITTEES

Robert Shimooshili, President of the Namibia Football Association (NFA), has been appointed as a member of the FIFA Football Social Responsibility Committee. His role will focus on advancing football-driven initiatives that promote positive social impact worldwide.

Meanwhile, Andrei Tirtirau, Chairperson of Futsal Namibia, has been appointed to the FIFA Futsal Committee, where he will contribute to the development, governance, and global growth of the sport.

Namibia has strengthened its representation on the global football stage with the appointment of two of its leaders to key FIFA committees.

Namibia Triumphs at World Volleyball Championship

After a tough start to the tournament, Namibia’s Special Olympics Unified Volleyball team delivered a powerful comeback, defeating Italy 2-0 at the Unified World Volleyball Championship in Poland.
The thrilling victory came on the heels of a 2-0 defeat by a strong Bharat (India) team on Sunday, proving the Namibian team’s resilience and competitive spirit on the international stage.

The Players from Namibia’s northern Omusati Region make up the complete team of 8 players. Most players are Students from Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila Resource and Vocational School and Haudano Senior Secondary School.

NFA CLARIFIES 2025/26 SEASON KICK-OFF, SPONSORSHIP TALKS ONGOING

Today, Isack Hamata, Director of Marketing, Communication, and Sales at the Namibia Football Association (NFA), confirmed that the entire 2025/26 football season — not just the Premier League — will kick off on 24 October 2025.

Hamata also confirmed that while there is currently no sponsor for the Premier League, discussions are ongoing with various companies, supported by efforts from both the NFA and government.

Yesterday, the NFA had officially announced the season start, reminding clubs to submit financial reports, membership renewals, fixtures, and venue details by the respective deadlines. The association also emphasized the importance of registering all players and officials on the FIFA E-Connect system and warned that non-compliance could result in sanctions, withheld funds, or disqualification.

CRIC GEN CROWNED 2025 NEDBANK DESERT ICE CHALLENGE T20 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

The 2025 Nedbank Desert Ice Challenge T20 League wrapped up its season with an awards ceremony held over the weekend to honour outstanding performances and celebrate a successful tournament.

Team Cricket Generation (Cric Gen) from Walvis Bay emerged victorious, defeating the Gobabis Bulls by 33 runs in the final held at the Namibia Cricket Ground in July to lift the coveted trophy. Okahandja Cricket Club were crowned Shield winners, while United claimed the Bowl title.

Tsumeb Old Boys’ Willem Groenewald was named Player of the Tournament, while Cric Gen’s William Lottering earned the Best Bowler accolade. Rising star Ethan du Toit (15) retained his Impact Player of the Tournament title, winning seven Impact Player of the Match awards throughout the competition. Henre Opperman scooped both the Best Batter and Best Fielder awards.

The 2025 season featured 46 matches, producing 11,637 runs, including six centuries, 43 half-centuries, and 930 fours.
