‎"I attended a wedding reception in Owerri last Saturday, and one woman there humbled me without even knowing it.

‎She sat two rows ahead of me. Looking Gorgeous.
‎
‎Gold earrings. Gold necklace. Designer wrapper etc.
‎
‎But the strange part was her hand fan. She wasn’t using it because of heat.
‎
‎Every time someone walked past, she quickly used it to cover her face. Like she didn’t want certain people recognizing her.
‎
‎A woman beside me leaned over and whispered, "That woman behaves like this everywhere. She thinks she’s richer than everybody here."
‎
‎We laughed and faced the wedding again. Then drinks started going around.
‎
‎One waiter mistakenly brushed the edge of her wrapper while serving people.
‎
‎You needed to see how she reacted.
‎
‎She stood up immediately. Are you blind? How dare you! Do you know how much this fabric costs? Keep your dirty hands away from me!

‎The poor waiter froze, and apologies.
‎
‎The whole place went quiet. Even the MC paused briefly.
‎
‎After that, she spent the entire event looking irritated. Like she flew in from Dubai just for the wedding. Like she had a driver waiting outside with AC running.

‎Fast forward two hours later. The party ended.
‎
‎I was trekking to the junction to find a bus. The sun was wicked.

‎Then suddenly I saw people rushing toward one dusty public bus.
‎
‎And right in the middle of the struggle was Madam VIP. Pushing. Dragging. Elbowing people for a window seat.

‎One old man nearly fell. Her expensive wrapper even got hooked on the rusty bus door.

‎The same woman that acted untouchable inside the hall was now sweating heavily inside keke and bus chaos.
‎
‎The hand fan was gone. Her face was fully out now, covered in sweat and real life stress.

I found ₦50,000 inside a book I bought from a roadside seller in Lagos.

‎At first, I thought it was a mistake or maybe a test.
‎
‎The book looked old, as if it had been sitting there for years. No name, no note just the money tucked neatly between the pages.
‎
‎For a few minutes, I actually considered keeping it.
‎
‎Then something didn’t sit right.
‎
‎So, the next day, I went back to the seller and told him what I had found.
‎
‎He went silent.
‎
‎Then he started laughing not the happy kind.
‎
‎He said, “That book belonged to my son.”
‎
‎Turns out, his son had been saving that money inside the book before he passed away the previous year. The father didn’t even realise it was there when he sold it.
‎
‎The moment I handed it back, his eyes filled with tears.
‎
‎He kept saying, “You don’t understand, this is the last thing he left behind.”
‎
‎He tried to give me some of the money, but I refused.
‎
‎As I was leaving, he said something I’ll never forget:
