Lecture series………………..Lecture one
Topic? Resignation
What is resignation? This is an act of voluntarily quitting a job.
How do you resign? The first step to resignation is notifying your employer/organization of your intention to quit through a resignation letter or email depending on the policy of your organization.
This notification letter or email should be given one month or two weeks ahead of your resignation date, again, depending on the policy of the organization.
on every employment letter or contract document signed on acceptance of a job, it is usually stated; if you, the employee quit your job without giving a notice within the stipulated duration, you would forfeit your one month salary, and if the employer is the one terminating your appointment, you are to be paid extra one month salary.
Now, why do people resign?
i. Found a new job
ii. Personal reasons/issues
iii. Dissatisfaction with the workplace or work environment
iv. Health grounds
v. Carrier change
vi. Retirement etc.
People could also be forced, frustrated or bullied to resign.
Here, we are going to be talking about dissatisfaction with the workplace and bullying or frustrating people to resign.
Bullying people to resignation is an abuse and should not be encouraged.
Here are some ways your manager or your employer can frustrate you into resignation.
1. Unwarranted and constant criticism: He never appreciates anything you do, always finds reasons to criticize all efforts you put in to accomplish a task.
2. When he suddenly begins to exclude you from important meetings that you ordinarily should be part of, he fixes the meeting and intentionally wouldn’t notify you and later apologized that he forgot, excludes you from projects that should help improve your job role. Withholding some important information from you.
3. He begins to add more workload to your already excessive workloads and giving you impossible or unrealistic task to set you up for failure.
4. Scrutinizing every of your task and moves to deliberately set you up for mistakes.
5. Humiliating you in front of clients and colleagues.
6. Tactically denying you promotions, salary raise and trainings.
7. Moving you to a lesser role or undesirable position without any valid reason.
8. Indirect threats, gossip or intimidation.
i know some of us must have encountered some of these challenges.
