IGBA ABA IN IZHIA
The reasons for igba aba during burial in izhia has become a talk of the day, as many do not know the essence or reason.
Yes, many do not know why IGBA ABA is Compulsorily conducted during burial in izhia.
In Izhia land, it is Culturally made compulsory that during one's burial, the left over is usually teken to a marathon race known in izhia as igba aba, where family and friends, loved ones and many others accompanies the direct victim of the burial to the race known in izhia as igba aba. during this race, the family members, especially the closest relation to the deceased is usually taken to the race of igba aba. this is done to announce exit. yes igba aba is done to administer one's grievances towards the demise of loved one and secondly to announce exit.
The essence of "igba aba" is to administer grief and to announce exit. This "igba aba" is usually followed with this song "añyi acho ya, añyi afuro ya". that's we have searched everywhere but was unable to see him/her.
When set, one is to queue according to either age or most loved individual of the household. the deceased photograph is taken along, usually is the closest relation with some phantom of wrapper tied across his waíst, this movement is violent free as the essence is only to announce the exit of the deceased.
when taken the igba aba exercise, usually is ATTAH NWOROKE song. it's sanged before and after the igba aba. the first ATTAH NWOROKE is sanged to register the start of the "ABA", while the second one is sanged to declare it's closure. it's Culturally okay that the involved members of the "ABA", moves with some items like palm fronds, sticks, branches of tree and many more.
When the group has moved to a distance of choice and wishes to return, two to three persons usually arrive with palm fronds before the full group. this they do to announce the exit of the deceased. they run back to meet the congregation before the arrival of the full house. when arrived, every stick or any object taken to the ABA is submitted to the tomb else serves another negative purpose.
The ATTAH NWOROKE song is sanged the second time to announce Closure of the ABA and final exit of the deceased.
Ije/igba aba is done twice in the burial of a person. it's done at the wake keeping and during the main burial. meanwhile, one who refused to engage in ABA during the burial of his own parents is Culturally not permitted to do it for others in izhia. it's spiritually guarded.
During the closure of "ABA", comes what we call "ibu aba", this ibu aba is usually done by either the closest relation or member of the mourning household. it is today done with money/okpoga. before now it used to be coming to enjoin in the last song before the closure. however, it's called ibu aba in izhia.
Religion aside as both the blue and the white in respect to religion does it in izhia land. else, automatically segregate one from doing it for others.
