Happy New Year, My Dear Facebook Family

As we step into this new year, my heart is filled with gratitude for each of you who walk this journey with me as friends, colleagues, students, mentees, collaborators, and supporters.

This year, I remain committed to teaching with purpose, researching with integrity, mentoring with intention, leading with compassion, and advocating relentlessly for the elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases.

I also reaffirm my passion for empowering women in STEM to rise confidently, break barriers, and take their rightful place in shaping the future.

May this year bring clarity of vision, bold opportunities, intellectual growth, meaningful collaborations, and impact that goes beyond titles.

May we learn, unlearn, innovate, and serve humanity with excellence.

May our efforts, big and small contribute to healthier communities, stronger leaders, and a more equitable world.

Thank you for being part of my journey.

I look forward to growing, serving, and winning together this year.

Put God first in everything you do this year. Allow Holy Spirit to guide your intuition. It's your new year of open doors.

Wishing you a year of purpose, progress, and possibilities.

WHAT SOFT LIFE REALLY MEANS TO ME

Soft life is more than brunch dates, aesthetics, and weekend getaways.
It is deeper than luxury and far beyond what social media shows.

For me, soft life is a lifestyle of peace, intention, and emotional wealth.
It is choosing ease over chaos, quality over noise, and alignment over pressure.

Soft life means:

1. Choosing Peace Over Proving Points

A soft-life woman doesn’t live for validation.
She knows who she is, and she steps away from anything that drains her mentally, emotionally, or financially.

2. Prioritising Self-Care Without Guilt

Soft life is saying “no” when you mean it, resting when you need it, and caring for your health and mind without apology.
It is understanding that your well-being is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

3. Financial Wisdom, Not Reckless Spending

Soft life is not about wasting money.
It is about earning, planning, saving, and investing so you can enjoy life without fear or panic.
It is freedom from financial anxiety.

4. Emotional Stability and Boundaries

A soft-life woman protects her energy.
She sets boundaries, avoids unnecessary conflicts, and surrounds herself with people who bring calm, not chaos.

5. Enjoying the Beautiful Things With Sense

Soft life is enjoying good food, clean spaces, quality clothes, skincare, books, travel, love, and comfort without running yourself into stress, debt, or drama.

6. Living a Life You Don’t Need a Break From

Soft life is designing your days intentionally.
It is pursuing opportunities, relationships, and habits that make life simple, joyful, and meaningful.

7. Becoming the Best Version of Yourself

Soft life is growth.
It is learning, unlearning, evolving, and stepping into rooms with confidence because you built yourself from within.

8. Making Holy Spirit your bestie

Soft life is loving God without stress. There is no stress with serving God. It's how to work with the Holy Spirit as your bestie.
Soft life is the dang lifestyle.

In one sentence:

Soft life for me is a gentle blend of peace, financial wisdom, emotional maturity, and intentional enjoyment, a life where I choose myself, my sanity, and my future every single day. I decided to step into this soft life after my beautiful mom's death.

In this picture.
I resurrected .
I came alive.
A new me was birthed.
I walked this path lonely, broken and battered.
I persevered.
I got swollen legs.
Knife divided my index and middle fingers into two.
One day as i was going to my university, I missed my way.
I had preclampsia and was sick for two years.
The enemy knew I was born to win.
He has been mad.
I refused to shift my gaze from God.
Some people called me church rat.
I cried when I needed to.
I still smiled without showing my pain.
I was nursing my sick mom.
I never looked like what I was going through.
In all these , my heart kept beating for God.
EL ROI showed me mercy.
EL ROI rewrote my story.
EL ROI saw me.
My testimony from this journey keeps winning souls for God.
His Grace is on me.
I love you God, your mercies have never failed me.
The first female PhD holder from Uru Ogwa.
The first in my maternal home.
The first in my husband's kindred.
Eze Ebube see how far you brought me.
I bow before your throne God.
I am acknowledging you for who you are.
Join me and thank God because you don't know a bit of my story.
I am encouraging everyone here.
God is a Great Capacity Speaking God. Hold Him firmly.
My God is Nnaoma ( Good Father)
My God is Chioma ( Beautiful God)
My God is Chinemerem ( He does it for me)
My God is Chidinma ( Awesome God)

When a Nation Neglects Its Educators

The federal government has never paused to ask why our universities continue to churn out half-baked graduates.

The answer lies not in the students, but in the system that undervalues those who shape their minds the lecturers.

A well-paid lecturer has no reason to chase multiple side hustles.

When an educator is adequately rewarded, they can dedicate their time and intellect fully to teaching, research, and mentorship.

But when salaries are poor and working conditions discouraging, survival instincts take over.

Many are forced to juggle extra jobs just to make ends meet, and inevitably, something suffers.

The result is a silent tragedy in our lecture halls, diminished teaching quality, abandoned research, and disillusioned students.

The ultimate victims are the young people whose futures depend on a sound education.

No nation that takes education and the educators who drive it for granted will ever progress.

A country that neglects its teachers is one that chooses to crawl when it could soar.

It is time for the government to understand that investing in lecturers is not charity; it is nation-building.

Honestly, my write up is not directed at anyone.

I am only highlighting the systemic failure that forces lecturers into side hustles not blaming the individuals themselves.

In fact, many lecturers will likely agree with me and even appreciate my courage to write this truth.

If the government has ears let them hear. Ife nile ghasara aghasa ( things are no longer okay).

Parenthood Is Presence, Not Just Provision

Parenthood is far more than paying school fees, it is showing up.
Many people ask why I am so close to my dad. The answer is simple: he was present.

My dad bought me my first makeup kit.
He taught me to chase my vision before anything else.
He would explain every step of his work as an administrator so I could learn.
I know his childhood stories, teenage adventures, and even his “toasting” escapades because he shared them openly while my mum laughed in the background.

When we were sick, we became celebrities. He would spoil us with care and kindness.
He is a master of English and Igbo — his grammar is legendary.
I wasn’t born during the Nigerian Civil War, yet I narrate war stories vividly because my parents were intentional storytellers.

Dear Parents, Be Present

Some fathers do not even know the cost of their children’s clothes.
Some girls still use wrappers during their menstrual cycle because no one taught or prepared them.
When mothers travel, many daughters suffer in silence.
Yet tomorrow, these same absentee parents will boldly say, “I trained them.” Trained how?

Dear Fathers, you are meant to be a light.
Teach your daughter the tricks men use so she is not deceived.
Teach your son how to be kind, respectful, and responsible.
You cannot give what you do not have — if you are bitter and unkind, what legacy will you pass on?

It’s the Little Things That Count

Have you ever:

Bought sanitary pads or toiletries for your children?

Helped with homework willingly?

Remembered their birthdays and celebrated them?

These “little things” are what make you a present parent.
I can spend hours on the phone with my dad today because he invested more than money he invested himself.

It’s Not Too Late to Change

Check your circle. Many fathers and mothers keep irresponsible friends who don’t value family. Detach from them ka i baa uru (so it will benefit you).

Don’t scroll past this write-up and do nothing.
Go and make amends. Be the kind of parent that your children will be proud to celebrate in public.

Because only finished fathers and mothers — the ones who gave more than school fees — will truly reap the rewards of parenthood.

Ekwusigom. I have spoken.
