However, a doctor at Niger State General Hospital, Dr. Emma Okolo, his son and a woman named Ego Okozo, from Umana Ndiago, Eziago Local Government Area of Enugu, are part of the unlucky tourists who were kidnapped and taken away to the jungle. They were kidnapped between Otukpa and Amala Igezi, along the Enugu-Makurdi Federal Highway. They come from the Umana Ndiagu community. But family sources told Trending News Naija on Monday that the doctor, his son and the woman have been released. Although he said that a ransom was paid to secure their release, he did not reveal the amount paid. He added: “Praise be to God. The doctor, his son, and the woman who was with him were released on Sunday evening after paying the ransom. Friends organized the rescue of the family, contributed money and helped the family pay the ransom. Family sources revealed that the gunmen contacted the doctor's wife to demand a ransom of 50 million Naira. However, it is not known whether the other travellers who were kidnapped on the same day have been released.
