During Day 1 of the final gathering for 2025 Maximizing Soilless Farming and Agribusiness Masterclass Training, the Global team lead of BIC FARMS Concepts Adebowale Onafowora shared powerful insights that challenge how we think about food, investment, and national growth in Nigeria and Africa with the trainees present on-site and for those that attended virtually.

Food insecurity is not just about production; it is about systems, structure, and strategy.
Gaps in knowledge, technology adoption, access to the right tools, and poor value-chain integration continue to limit our capacity to feed ourselves sustainably.

The agribusiness sector is filled with untapped opportunities from soilless farming, controlled environment agriculture, processing, storage, logistics, to agribusiness services.
Growth depends on identifying these spaces and deploying the right tools, skills, and innovations to scale efficiently.

A thriving agribusiness sector is a direct driver of economic growth.
Reviving the industry means investing in modern farming systems, capacity building, youth inclusion, and sustainable practices that create jobs, increase productivity, and stabilize food supply.

As emphasized: “People spend into poverty; you must spend out of poverty.”

Participants were equipped with practical skills in value chain development.

We spent time teaching participants how to manage their produce after harvest, add value to what they already have, understand the value chain, reduce post harvest losses, build brands, and turn cottage ideas into sustainable livelihoods.

Farming doesn’t end in the field, it continues all the way to the market.

We are here to help them grow and earn better with the resources already in their hands.
