THE UNITY OF ABEOKUTA............EGBALAND.

Late Oba Sir Ladapo Ademola (KBE)
The Alake of Egbaland 1920-1962.
His Mother was a Princess in Ake, Abeokuta while his Father hailed from Oke Ago-owu, also in Abeokuta, right behind the Egbeyemi Family House.
When it was the turn of his mother's ruling house to present the next Alake, she presented her son, definitely with the approval of his ruling house members despite the fact that young Ladapo's father hailed from Owu.

The Questions are;

1. Why did Aké Palace accept this nomination, knowing fully that the father hailed from the Òwu section of Abeokuta?

2. Why did the Owu Kingdom permit one of their own to leave Òwu to Aké to become the Paramount Ruler of Egbaland knowing fully that after attaining that throne, he automatically becomes a full indigine of Aké ?

The Answer is simple;

In Abeokuta, whether you hailed from Ake, Oke-Ona, Gbagura or Owu, everyone see themselves as ONE UNBREAKABLE FAMILY.
This is more reason everyone referred to each other as;
" ỌMỌ BABA MI".
No Segregation, No Discrimination, No Ethnicity, No Barrier.

Nobody Has The Monopoly of Rascality and Radicalism.
If we advised you to do away with Utterances and Writeups that can break Our Bond, that can deter Our Progress, that is capable of breaking Our Peace and Unity and you refused,
We too will not rest in our comfort zones to allow you to erode our Joy in Abeokuta.
We shall tackle and suppress you with Progressive Thoughts that will consolidate the Unity in Our Ancestral Home, ABEOKUTA and make you have a RETHINK FOR UNITY.

On the issue of Egba owu or Ekerin that is causing controversy in Abeokuta, it is a matter of keeping these issues from spreading in a peaceful town but the Egba are the ones who are causing trouble over calling owu Egba or Ekerin Egba, because they are trying to dominate the Owu,

We have two Paramount rulers in Ijebu Awujale and Akarigbo, who are united with peace, why do the Egba want to cause trouble in Abeokuta

we all know that Abeokuta is not Egba, Egba tribe migrated to Abeokuta, as Owu migrated , Ibara also migrated to Abeokuta, same as Gbagura migrated to Abeokuta and Osile, so if Owu agree to call Abeokuta as Egbaland, is to accept peace and unity, Abeokuta is not Egba land.

It is still advisable to the Egba and Owu should let peace prevail in Abeokuta by stop calling Abeokuta as Egbaland and stop calling Owu as Ekerin or Owu Egba

"Confederacy! I maintain that Owu in Abeokuta are in Egbaland, but Owu are not Egba." -Orunto Owu Kingdom

This position is not a rejection of our historic relationship with the Egba groups, nor does it diminish our contributions to the building, defence, and development of Abeokuta and Egbaland. Rather, it is an affirmation of our distinct historical identity as Owu people.

Owu existed as a kingdom, a people, and a civilisation long before the establishment of Abeokuta. Our migration history, royal institution, traditions, customs, dialectical peculiarities, and cultural heritage remain intact and unwavering. Participation in a confederacy does not erase identity; it strengthens cooperation while preserving individuality.

The nineteenth-century confederate arrangement that brought together Ake, Oke-Ona, Gbagura, Owu, and others was founded on mutual respect and collective interest. A confederacy, by its very nature, is a union of distinct peoples working together for common purposes without surrendering their separate heritage.

Therefore, Owu's place in Egbaland should be understood within the context of partnership, contribution, and shared destiny, not cultural absorption. We are proud members of the larger Egbaland community, yet we remain proudly and distinctly Owu.

Our identity is intact. Our culture is alive. Our traditions endure. Our history remains our own, even as we continue to contribute to the progress and unity of the land we share with our neighbours.

This framing asserts Owu identity firmly while acknowledging the historical reality of cooperation and coexistence within Egbaland.
