BREAKING: Concerned Party Members Raise Eyebrows.
The concerned members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) raise concerns over alleged favouritism. The write up below;
A CALL FOR FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE IN PDP’S CANDIDATE SELECTION PROCESS IN REMO OGUN STATE
"As a concerned member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Remo North Local Government, I feel compelled to address an issue that threatens the democratic principles our party holds dear. It is with a heavy heart that I bring to light the undue influence of a so-called leader from Ikene local government, who has shown blatant favouritism toward a particular aspirant, Asiwaju Abolarinwa Oluwole. ABO, in our party’s candidate selection process.
This favouritism is not only undemocratic but also detrimental to the progress and success of our party in Remo. Asiwaju Abolarinwa Oluwole. ABO, the alleged favourite of this leader, has consistently borne the flag of our party in general elections, only to lead us to defeat time and time again. As loyal party members, we are tired of losing out every single time Oluwole represents the PDP. It is disheartening to see our collective efforts and aspirations dashed due to the imposition of a candidate who has repeatedly failed to deliver victory.
The PDP is a party built on the principles of fairness, justice, and inclusivity. It is, therefore, unacceptable for any individual, no matter their position, to manipulate the candidate selection process to favour their preferred aspirant. This not only undermines the democratic rights of other aspirants but also alienates party members who feel their voices are being silenced.
We call on the so-called leaders across REMO to allow all aspirants to exercise their political rights freely and fairly. Let the best candidate emerge through a transparent and democratic process, one that reflects the will of the people and the interests of the party. It is only by embracing fairness and justice that we can rebuild trust within our ranks and present a united front capable of winning elections.
Furthermore, we urge the national leadership of the PDP to intervene and ensure that the candidate selection process in Remo is conducted in a manner that upholds the party’s values. The era of imposing candidates must end if we are to regain the confidence of the electorate and secure victory in future elections.
As members of the PDP, we are committed to the growth and success of our party. However, this commitment must be reciprocated with fairness, transparency, and respect for democratic principles. Let us not allow the selfish interests of a few to jeopardize the future of our party and the aspirations of the people we seek to serve.
Together, we can restore the PDP’s glory in Remo North and beyond. But this can only happen if we stand firm against favouritism and work collectively to ensure that the best candidates represent our party. The time for change is now.
A concerned member,
People's Democratic Party (PDP)
Ogun State.
