Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. If you're a musician or artiste and still base your practice and progress upon passion, I'm sad to tell you you're treading the path that leads to unfulfillment. Passion, as good as it is, is also a major cause of many failures. Because you're so in love with music and can't look away when you see a mic, you jump on every stage and place you see a microphone and speakers- even for no Kobo! Watch it. To pursue a profession in any art, one must learn to hide and control the urge to exhibit and showcase oneself except some tangible remuneration is attached. This remuneration doesn't necessarily have to be money- it could just be for recognition! What's the essence of performing your demo to an audience of just two people or fifty people who're either chatting away on their seats or brawling for jollof rice at a wedding?? Let some form of value be attached to your product. Let people give something to have it. Don't go about Sharing your song via Bluetooth when you already put it online? What's the essence when everyone on your street has the song but on the net it's reading "3 downloads"??? Let them use their hard earned data to download it! When you share the link to people don't beg them to download, create a hype article that would draw them to download. Musicians aren't beggars! No matter how many we are, there's space for all of us. Think about it.
