: Universities have no option than to merge outstanding admissions - Vice Chancellors

Speaking with newsmen on the backlog of admissions, the Secretary-General of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, Prof Yakubu Ochefu has confirmed that outstanding admissions in Nigerian universities will be merged, following the disruption of academic calendar by the ongoing strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities.

That being the case, current university aspirants who are seeking admission would be joined with existing 100 level students.

Woman gives birth to twins with different fathers in ‘one in a million’ event

Brazilian woman who recently gave birth to twins has claimed they have different fathers, after a test revealed the rare occurrence.

The anonymous 19-year-old, from Minerios in Goias, Brazil, took a paternity test to confirm the babies’ father when they reached eight months.

However, checking their DNA against the man she believed was the dad, the mum was confused to learn that results only came back positive for one of the twins.

She began going through past experiences to get to the bottom of things, remembering that she’d previously had s*x with two men on the same day around the time the twins were conceived.

When the second man was tested, he was confirmed as the father of the second baby, in a phenomenon known as heteroparental superfecundation.

The woman’s doctor, Tulio Jorge Franco, told Globo: ‘It is possible to happen when two eggs from the same mother are fertilised by different men. The babies share the mother’s genetic material, but they grow in different placentas'.

According to the physician, it’s a ‘one in a million’ event that he never thought he’d encounter.

It’s believed that there are only 20 other confirmed cases of twins not sharing the same father.

The twin boys are reported to be 16 months old, yet Dr Franco is only now talking publicly about their birth as he’s planning to publish an academic paper on them.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II HAS DIED, BUCKINGHAM PALACE ANNOUNCES

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.

Her family gathered at her Scottish estate after concerns grew about her health earlier on Thursday.

The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change.

With her death, her eldest son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, will lead the country in mourning as the new King and head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

"The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

All the Queen's children travelled to Balmoral, near Aberdeen, after doctors placed the Queen under medical supervision.

Her grandson, Prince William, is also there, with his brother, Prince Harry, on his way.
