*THREAT TO LIFE, CONTEMPT OF COURT , CONSPIRACY AND CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE A BREACH OF PEACE AGAINST SOME EDO STATE SECURITY CORPS , NAME UNKNOWN BUT RECOGNIZE WHEN SEEN*.

It was indeed another scene of fear, terror and agony today being 1st December 2025 at Okabere junction by sapele road when some officers of the Edo State security corps stormed the junction in a commando style , arresting , dehumanizing and forcefully seizing of tricycle and motorcycles of citizens all in the guise that the then governor of Edo State Comrade Adams Alieu Oshomoile made a law that no motorcycle nor tricycle should be seen plying the express way.

The scene became worse when they began dragging and beating up the riders , while those that saw them from few meters had to hurriedly turn back while they chase after them and probably injure some riders and dehumanize them in the process .

It should be noted that the said verbal pronouncement by the then governor was challenged at the Appeal court and the court held that the governor lacks the power to make laws as it's strictly the responsibility of the legislators to make laws and as such the court had to reverse the pronouncement , I wonder where these vigilantes got such order from that gave them such powers to begin to dehumanize innocent citizens because they want money to part ways .

I got a call from one Mr Damilola, who explained that some vigilante apprehended him on his way to pick up his kids from school and forcefully seize his tricycle (Keke) asking him to settle them or they will take his Keke to their office and he will have to bail it with a huge sum of money .

Immediately, I told my friend Mr Godwin Esosa to accompany me to the scene.
Myself leftist Dickson John Esq and Mr Godwin Esosa immediately left for the venue.
At our arrival, we saw these officers chasing after a Keke rider and because of that, he almost knocked down two school children who just close from the school and we're trying to find their way back home , while some were chasing a bake man and after which one of the officers pushed the bike man down from the bike and he sustain an injury.
These men did not stop there, one of them immediately climbed onto the bike and zoom off with the bike leaving the wounded rider in pain .

This unprofessional conduct made us to begin to ask questions on the legality of their actions .

After we introduced ourselves to them, they began mocking us that they even beat up an army officer today and collected his motorcycle talk less of us bloody civilian .

We tried to be calm and civil with them but instead one of them told me that I think that I know the law, that I am very lucky that the incident happened in an open place that he would have *fired me with his gun* for telling him that there is no law that prohibit tricycle or motorcycle from plying the express .

All efforts to reach the Edo State deputy corps commander prove abortive as he is neither picking up his calls nor returning them.

This issue is not one of those to be swept under the rug or handle with kids gloves.
My life is being threatened and I will do anything to bring these power drink vigilante officer to justice , if this can happen to me, I wonder what others go through in the hands of these power drink vigilante officers .

The fight for Egalitarian Society is a fight to finish, justice must be served , let the corps deputy commander come and show us the law that he or his boys are using to arrest , dehumanize and assault innocent citizens .

Leftist Dickson John Esq is my name, writing from my village in Saint Savior.

Many citizens don’t fully understand the responsibilities of police officers.
Officers are trained to:

Edo Police command cracks down on illegal road blockades amid protests

Benin, Edo – The Edo State Police Command has issued a stern warning to protesters and pressure groups, declaring an end to the rising trend of road blockages and highway obstructions under the guise of public demonstrations.

In a statement last weekend, the Command expressed deep concern over these illegal activities, signaling a zero-tolerance policy effective immediately.

The police highlighted that while the Nigerian Constitution, under Section 40, guarantees the right to peaceful assembly, this right is not absolute and must adhere to legal frameworks and established protocols.

The Command pointed out that recent incidents of road blocks, obstructing vehicular and pedestrian movement, disrupting commerce, and undermining public peace constitute criminal offenses.

These actions, they argue, infringe upon the rights of law-abiding citizens and will no longer be tolerated.

Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika, who was appointed to the role following a tragic lynching incident in Uromi, emphasized the urgency of the situation.

The police action aligns with the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which permit restrictions on assembly rights for public safety and order. The Command’s stance also draws on the Nigeria Highway Code, which prohibits obstructing roads in ways that impede traffic flow a violation punishable under the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Act.

CP Agbonika cautioned organizers and individuals to desist from unlawful assemblies, underscoring the police's commitment to enforcing the law while protecting public order and the rights of all residents.

The statement reflects a broader effort to balance freedom of expression with the need to maintain societal stability, especially in light of recent violent incidents in the state.

Some residents have welcomed the police stance, citing the inconvenience caused by road blockages, while others have raised concerns about potential overreach, calling for dialogue with protest organizers to address underlying grievances.

Police commence withdrawal of officers from VIP Protection in line with Tinubu's directive

The Nigeria Police Force has begun implementing President Bola Tinubu's order to redeploy thousands of officers currently assigned to VIP security details back to frontline policing duties, amid escalating national security concerns including mass abductions and rising crime rates.

The directive, issued during a high-level security meeting in Abuja on Sunday, targets the withdrawal of approximately 100,000 officers from protecting politicians, celebrities, and other high-profile individuals across the country.

According to a memo from the Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 16 in Lagos, dated November 24, all personnel attached to VIPs and beats must report back to base by the end of that day and attend a mandatory lecture parade the following morning.

The order, signed by ASP Neji Veronica on behalf of the Commanding Officer, emphasizes strict compliance and attendance tracking from the nominal roll.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, confirmed the rollout on X (formerly Twitter), stating: "Police begin the implementation of President Tinubu’s order to withdraw police officers guarding VIPs."

This move echoes previous attempts under past administrations such as in 2018, 2019, 2020, and earlier in 2023 and 2025 but critics argue it has often failed to yield lasting improvements in public safety.

Under the new policy, VIPs seeking continued protection must formally request personnel from alternative agencies, such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), ensuring only "well-armed" officers are deployed.

The Police assured the public that redeployed officers would bolster community patrols and anti-crime operations nationwide.

President Tinubu's administration frames the redeployment as a critical step to strengthen core policing amid Nigeria's security crisis, with over 4,000 officers still reportedly guarding elites.

‎Police receives writing materials as human rights group storms Okada with sensitization campaign

‎Okada, Edo – Okada in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo state came alive on Saturday, 22nd November 2025, as members of the AHMWFES Bail is Free Campaign Organization staged a spirited sensitization campaign on the Fundamental Human Rights of Citizens.

‎Led by the Director General, Mr. Oni-Edigin Justice, the group engaged traders at the Okada market, motorists, and residents with direct conversations about citizens’ rights, especially the right to bail and protection from arbitrary detention.

‎The campaign’s meeting point adjacent the Okada Divisional Police Headquarters, ensured maximum visibility.

‎In a symbolic gesture of partnership with law enforcement, the organization donated 100 pieces of writing pens to the Nigeria Police Force. The items were received by the Station Officer (SO) on behalf of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO).

‎Oni-Edigin Justice emphasized that the donation was meant to support the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police in their administrative duties while reminding officers of their obligation to uphold the fundamental human rights of every citizen, including the right to bail without unnecessary delay.

‎Officers at the Okada Division expressed appreciation for the gesture and pledged continued cooperation with civil society groups working to promote rule of law.

‎The AHMWFES Bail is Free Campaign Organization has been vocal in advocating for speedy justice, transparency in the bail process, and an end to prolonged detention of suspects who are eligible for bail.

‎Saturday’s event in Okada is part of a statewide tour aimed at educating rural and semi-urban communities about their constitutional rights and how to enforce them when dealing with law enforcement agencies.

‎Traders at Okada Market welcomed the sensitization, with many describing it as “an eye-opener,” especially on issues of police extortion and unlawful detention.

‎The campaign train is expected to visit more communities across Edo State in the coming weeks.
