Is it really possible to build a profitable agribusiness while working a demanding 9-to-5?

The answer is yes but not in the way most people think. It's not about finding more hours in the day. It's about using the right business structure.

I shared one model in a previous post (check it out if you missed it). Today, I am sharing the model that I believe is the most powerful solution for busy professionals. I have seen it work in the real world and can say that it is a complete game-changer.

Happy new week everyone! I wanted to start this week with something a bit controversial that hopefully might change what you think about farms - Your farm is not your business!

☑ Your farm is your production facility. It is the place where you create your product.
☑ Your business is the entire system you build around the farm. It's your:
👉Supply chain (how you get your inputs)
👉Logistics (how you get your product to market)
👉Marketing and sales (how you find and keep customers)
👉Financial management (how you manage your cash flow and profitability)

This is why some people with fantastic, high-yielding farms still go out of business. They focus 100% on production and forget to build the business around it.

You have to be a great farmer to create a great product, but you have to be a great business owner to create a great profit.

Do you agree or disagree with this? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

Anyways, I also wanted to stop by to wish you all a very productive new week.

So, I've received a couple of questions in my DM and decided to create a new series called "From My DM" to answer some of the questions for the benefit of everyone.

Today I am responding to the following question asked in my DM: "I work a full-time 9-to-5 job. Which agribusiness can I do that won't require all of my time?"

This is a situation so many of us are in. The key is to think strategically and look for opportunities beyond day-to-day farming. Today, I am sharing one of the many opportunities beyond hoes and cutlasses and will be sharing more over the coming days and weeks.

What is my "why" for the Live event on August 16th?

Because behind every business analysis and financial model, there is a human journey.

When I first started exploring agribusiness, I wasn't just looking for data; I was looking for a path. I had so many questions: How do you get started? How do you grow? What are the real-life lessons that people learn along the way?

On Saturday, August 16th, I'm teaming up with my brilliant colleague a professional Project Manager Chinwe Talks Projects, to have that exact conversation.

This won't just be a technical Q&A. We will be sharing our personal stories:

* How we broke into our respective fields.

* The challenges we faced and the lessons we learned.

* How we've grown and navigated our professional journeys.

Our goal is to give you the "real talk" that you can't find in a textbook. We want to show you that with the right mindset and a solid plan, building a career in this industry is achievable.

I truly believe this will be one of the most valuable conversations we have on this page. I hope you will join us.

Someone asked this question in my DM: "I have ₦3 million. Should I start a garri processing business?"

My answer: It depends on your strategy. While ₦3M might not be enough to build a fully mechanized factory, it is more than enough capital to get started if you use a smart business model.

In this post, I have broken down three strategies for getting into the garri business with a ₦3 million budget. Swipe through to see the breakdown!

What are your thoughts on these strategies? Let me know in the comments.

Every great agribusiness starts with a great idea, but it succeeds with a great analysis. Before you get swept up in the excitement of a new venture, it is important to stop and ask the right questions.

I have put together this simple 7-point checklist to help you think like an analyst and evaluate any potential opportunity. These are the foundational questions I ask when I'm looking at a business model.

Swipe through to see the full checklist, and save it so you can refer back to it whenever you have a new idea.

And speaking of journeys, I would love to personally invite you to a FREE Facebook Live event I'm hosting with my colleague, a professional Project Manager, on Saturday, August 16th.

We will be having some real talk - sharing our personal stories, the lessons we've learned, and how we navigated our careers in agribusiness and project management. It is also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

Would you like to attend this event? See the link to the event in the comments.
