..Recovers skuchies, ‘suck and die’, opioids, assorted weapons in raids across Lagos, Ekiti, Kwara; destroys cannabis plantation in Kano

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted a consignment of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, concealed in duvet, packaged for export to the United Kingdom through the cargo shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos.

Two suspects: Adakole Sunday and Austin Balogun linked to the bid to export the consignment to the UK were promptly arrested following the discovery by NDLEA officers on Tuesday 21st January 2025. Six parcels of the psychoactive substance with a gross weight of 3.50 kilograms were concealed inside the duvet.

In his statement, Austin Balogun who is the main agent who hired Adakole, claimed he was paid N700,000 to cargo the consignment to UK but spent a fraction of the money on export handling charges and the bulk to pay for an apartment.

At least, two suspects: Joseph Oluwasegun Adewale and Biodun Adelakun were arrested at Igbo Olumo, Ikorodu area of Lagos when NDLEA operatives raided their hideout in the community where seven litres of skuchies, a new psychoactive substance produced with black currant, cannabis and opioids, were recovered. Other exhibits seized from the duo include: three locally made double barrel riffles; one locally made double barrel pistol; one English made pistol; one locally made single barrel riffle; three cartridges and one empty 9mm cartridge as well as an iron - head axe.

Another raid in Lagos on Sunday 19th January led to the seizure of 47kg skunk, a strain of cannabis, and 25.46kg Nitrous Oxide popularly known as laughing gas at the notorious Akala area of Mushin.

In Ekiti, a 26-year-old suspect Adepoju Taiwo was arrested by NDLEA officers on Thursday 23rd January with 1.950kg Canadian Loud at Iworoko road, Ilokun, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, while Auwal Sani was nabbed by operatives on Monday 20th January at Bode Saadu in Moro local government area of Kwara State. A total of 50,000 pills of tramadol 225mg weighing 36.56kg were recovered from him.

A Nigerien, Abubakar Lami, 45, with two others: Abba Sani, 35, and Auwal Aliyu, 32, were arrested by NDLEA operatives at Gadar Tamburawa, Kano, while 13.1kg skunk and 125 litres of ‘suck and die’, a new psychoactive substance were recovered from them. In Gefen Kasa, Dawakin Kudu council area of Kano state, a cannabis plantation was located and destroyed by a team of NDLEA officers who arrested a suspect, Sabo Ali Muhammad, 45, linked to the farm.

FCT Police Command Arraigns 16 Suspects For Vandalisation & Theft Of Government Property.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully arraigned 16 suspects before the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja. The suspects were brought before the court on January 22, 2025, to face charges of vandalizing critical government property and the unlawful possession of stolen items.

This development follows an intensive crackdown on scrap yards (commonly known as panteka), culminating in the arrest of multiple suspects and the recovery of substantial quantities of stolen and vandalized government assets, including manhole covers, armored cables, and streetlights.

This was contained in a statement signed by Public Relations Officer of FCT Command, Josephine Adeh. She gives names of the arraigned suspects as follows:

SP Josephine revealed that, the arrests were the result of intelligence-led operations conducted across various locations within the FCT. Upon their arraignment, the suspects entered pleas of “not guilty” and have since been remanded at the Keffi Correctional Centre, pending further proceedings. The case has been adjourned to January 30, 2025, for continued hearing.

Ondo Election: Troops Will Provide Assistance To Police During Ondo Governorship Election, Working To Thwart Terrorist Recruitments Online, Denied Oil Theft Gangs Over 1 Billion In Niger Delta.…..Maj Gen Buba.

The Director Media Operation Major General, Edward Buba has disclosed that troops will be deployed to provided assistance to the police in ensuring a hitch free off-cycle governorship election slated for 16 Nov 24, in Ondo State. He said troop’s presence is to ensure security of citizens, enabling them to cast their votes without any form of harassment or intimidation, while keeping mischief makers at bay. Just as NAF is already engaged in flying sensitive electoral material in support of INEC.

Maj General Edward Buba said this in a statement signed on Thursday 14th, November, 2024. Speaking on operations across the country He said, “operations are being modified to box terrorists, by increasing operational intensity to ensure total destruction of all terror groups and dismantling of their terror networks.

However, giving details of activities of troops in the week, Gen. Buba revealed that during the week under review, troops neutralized 88 and arrested 228 persons as 40 perpetrators of oil theft arrested while 181 kidnapped hostages rescued. He revealed that troops denied the oil theft of the estimated sum of One Billion Two Four Million Four Hundred and Twelve Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty Naira (N1,021,412,950.00) only in the south-south of Nigeria.

He further disclosed that troops recovered 84 assorted weapons and 2,393 assorted ammunition, giving breakdown of the recovery as follows: 34 AK47 rifles, 15 fabricated rifles, 11 dane guns, 5 fabricated revolver pistol, 8 locally made pistols, 3 pump action guns and one magnum pump action. Others are: 1,807 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 314 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 146 rounds of 7.62mm PKM ammo, 77 rounds of 9mm ammo, 49 live cartridges, 25 magazines, 2 baofeng radios, 16 vehicles, 35 motorcycles, 27 mobile phones and the sum of N1,851,000.00 only amongst other items.

Gen Buba said, troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed 13 crude oil cooking ovens, 20 dugout pits, 73 boats, 25 storage tanks and 59 illegal refining sites. While other items recovered include 3 barges, 7 speedboats, 73 drums, one tricycle, 5 pumping machines, 3 mobile phones and 9 vehicles among others. Also, recovered 942,420 litres of stolen crude oil, 175,075 litres of illegally refined AGO and 4,980 litres of PMS.

He therefor assures Nigerians that efforts of terrorist to recruit more members will be worked against by troops, he said “troops have depleted ISWAP terrorist rank and file in the North East, forcing a desperate recruitment drive. Similarly, terrorist in the North West are on a recruitment drive on social media for new recruits. Troops are aware of the situation and working with other security agencies and governments to thwart the plans.”

EFCC Arrests Alleged Billionaire Internet Fraudster And Money Launderer In Abuja

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, arrested one Hyginus Nkwocha for alleged internet fraud and money laundering.

Nkwocha, 35, was arrested at Ever Green Estate, behind Millennium Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, following intelligence about his suspected involvement in internet fraud and money laundering.

Items recovered from him include : a sum of $2,200 (Two Thousand Two Hundred Dollars), an iPhone 15 Pro Max, a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, a MacBook, a gold chain and pendant, a gold bracelet, a gold neck chain, Mercedes Benz ML 350, a Chevrolet Camaro, and a Mustang car.

This was disclosed by Head Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale. He said, others include: some properties at Cookies Court 2, located in Ocean Palm Estate, Ajah, Lagos, Unit C8, Lugbe Airport Road, Abuja and Cookies Court 2, 2nd Avenue, Ocean Palm Estate, Ogombo, Lagos State. He revealed that, the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
