TRAVEL TIP ALERT!

Did you know RECHARGEABLE hair straighteners are a no-go at airport security?

That’s right—they’re not allowed in carry-on OR checked luggage.

But the ones with a plug? Totally fine.

It’s the kind of rule you don’t want to learn the hard (or expensive) way!

Always learning, always travelling light (& sometimes lighter than planned).

Pic is of new ones bought at current destination. And grateful to friends having straighteners to tide me over until I got these.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING THAT APPLICATION.

1. Check your passport expiration date. Most places require it to be valid at least 6 months after your trip so don’t wait. Get it renewed now.

2. Some destinations (that actually stamp) require you have a certain number of pages - so take note.

3. Check (even if you’ve been there before) to see if the destination requires a visa, an electronic visa, or at ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) - different countries have different names for them - for example Brazil has started EVisa on April 10th this year and the UK has the new travel ETA (the EU has postponed theirs again until 2026). So it’s a good idea to stay up on the changes and what’s needed and apply in plenty of time.

4. Are there any REQUIRED immunizations for the country you are visiting or a country you’ll visit after that. Yellow Fever Card is compulsory before entry to some countries so have it handy.
