NANS Taraba Axis, Zone E, NUTASS and SUG TSU Resolves on ASUU Strike: Commends Government's Efforts, Issues Ultimatum and Demands Immediate Action

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Taraba Axis, acknowledges the Taraba State Government's efforts in promoting education and reducing school fees.

We commend the government's commitment to education, but we believe that more needs to be done to address the concerns of ASUU and ensure the reopening of universities.

Specifically, we call on the government to:

1. Establish a pension scheme* for university staff to ensure their welfare and security after retirement.
2. Immediately constitute a governing council to provide effective leadership and management for the institution.
3. Pay the new minimum wage to all university staff, as mandated by law.
4. Henceforth acknowledge and honour the percentages stated in the Taraba State University Establishments Act to ensure that the university receives the necessary funding and support.

We urge the government to take immediate action on these demands latest Monday night. Failure to do so will lead to massive protests by students across the state, as we cannot allow our colleagues to miss their exams.

We believe that education is a fundamental right, and it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that universities are properly funded and managed.

Declaration of Interest to Contest for the Office of warfare director, Students' Union Government (SUG)

Good day to all esteemed Taraba State students, my respected political mentors, and comrades in the struggle. I greet you all in the spirit of Alutarism.

Having served our institution in various different capacities, I am honored to formally declare my interest in contesting for the position of warfare director in the upcoming SUG elections. My decision is triggere by a deep commitment to contribute meaningfully to our Union’s mission and to enhance the welfare of every student.

If given the mandate, I promise that your trust will not be misplaced. With the understanding of student intereste, much is expected, I pledge to serve tirelessly and uphold the aims and objectives of our Union.

I humbly request your support and vote in this election. Together, let’s work towards a prosperous Student Union Government that embodies growth, unity, and shared accomplishments.

Commissioning of DR. AGBA KEFAS. (NABAMS) STUDENT PARK TARABA STATE UNIVERSITY, JALINGO.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, The Deans/Head of units/Head of Department. DR. Atando Dauda Agbu, along side Malam Hamisu Idris. who represente the head of the department. Other dignitaries where Jonh (LuLu) SA to the governor and more.

Others present at the event were SUG. Official, among departmental Excos. The DR. AGBU KEFAS NABAMS STUDENT PARK, was commission by Brgt. Gen. Jeremiah Aliyu Fararsa (RTD). The Brgt. Gen. Appreciate the head of department and the entire management and the Students representative and the staff of the faculty. He encourage the Students not to be discouraged, and commit their self to their studies. He advice the Students to focus on their studies,he support the Students financial.
Among others. They also promise to support the Students with a Solar panel look at the beauty of the park at night, with that can enable the read out at there comfort zone.
The departmental president of NABAMS comrade Bulus Santi Bulus. Said the aim of this Park is to provide a recreation and relaxation center after a stressful lectures day for both business and non- Business students. He added that the park will be commission to be ready for consumption and utilization, but we should not forget our culture of management in handling and using the park. We are Managers not damagers

RE: TIV DO NOT HAVE MILITIAS AND HAVE NO CRIMINAL GROUP IN WHATEVER FORM

TARABA TIV YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FORUM - TTYDF reject in entirety the ethnic profiling by Hon. Agye Josiah Yaro, Member representing Wukari 2 at the Taraba State House of Assembly.

Recall that Hon. Josiah in an interview with Taraba News, published on the 8th of April, 2024, labelled the Tiv people as militias, alleging that they were responsible for the criminal attack on Wukari-Tsokundi road which claimed three lives.

While we sympathize with the families of those that lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, we call on Hon. Josiah Agye and other individuals and associations whose mission is to destroy the image of the Tiv people of Taraba State before the public to make a u-turn and desist forthwith as further negative profiling of the Tiv people will surely warrant legal actions.

We want to state categorically that the Tiv People of Taraba State do not operate or have a militia group or a criminal group of whatsoever kind.

The attack of Hon Josiah is highly derogatory and defamatory, capable of painting the Tiv people of Taraba State black. This is a clear indication that Honourable Josiah is dishonourable, bias, insensitive, irrational, irresponsible and incompetent to serve in that capacity as he appears more of a tribal jingoist, and a tribal bigot, than a leader in the true sense.

The Tiv people are peace-loving people and will continue to support genuine efforts and initiatives aimed at bringing peace and development in our dear State Taraba.

We advise Hon. Josiah to focus more on bringing home dividends of democracy even as he was elected to do so, and stop displaying high level ignorance to security issues bedeviling his constituency therefore, widening the already existing tribal tensions in Wukari LGA in particular and Southern Taraba in general.

Agye's outing against the Tiv people in Wukari LGA further confirmed our earlier claim that, there's an attempt to deny Tiv their indigenous rights and as well eliminate them on their ancestral lands in Wukari LGA and Southern Taraba. What substantial prove does Agye as the representative of the people have to back up his allegation that Tiv are operating a militia group?

For the avoidance of doubt, the insecurity in Southern Taraba in particular and Taraba State in general spare no ethnic group. So for Agye to wake up one day and tag Tiv indigenes in Wukari LGA who are also victims of insecurity and ethnic cleansing as militia only shows the level of bias representation by the so called Honourable.

It is also very funny how Hon. Josiah Agye have turned a blind eye to the vandalization of Tiv communities in Wukari LGA and other parts of the State by his very kinsmen who have assigned to themselves the responsibility of expanding their territory into Tiv territories. What can be more troublesome and militia-like than the looting and vandalization of Tiv properties unprovoked?

We call on the just and unbias public never to believe or take such derogatory and ethnic profiling into consideration as Tiv people in Taraba State do not have a militia or criminal group to themselves, because the Tiv people have remained victims of insecurity in Taraba State as a whole.
