NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS PAY SOLIDARITY VISIT TO SUPER EAGLES IN GUINEA-BISSAU

Nigerian troops serving with the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB) have paid a solidarity visit to the Super Eagles ahead of Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the host nation, the Wild Dogs.

The Commanding Officer, NIGCOY 5, Lieutenant Colonel Afam Junior Chidi, led the troops to the team’s official training session at the 24 September Stadium in Bissau on Monday evening, where they met with Acting NFF General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, and other members of the Nigerian delegation.

The visit underscored the camaraderie between Nigerian troops serving abroad and the national team, while providing an opportunity for the soldiers to encourage the Super Eagles ahead of the crucial qualifier in Bissau.

TROOPS FOIL ABDUCTION ATTEMPTS, RESCUE 10 VICTIMS IN ZAMFARA

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled two separate abduction attempts and rescued 10 victims across Zamfara State.

On 27 September 2026, troops of Sector 2 responded to intelligence on the abduction of villagers at Kade Daba Village in Kanoma District, Maru LGA. The troops engaged the terrorists and rescued four victims during the operation.

In a separate incident along the Tsafe–Funtua Road, troops on a picketing operation responded to gunshots around Kwanoni and engaged terrorists attempting to withdraw through the surrounding high ground, forcing them to flee.

The terrorists had earlier set a Sharon vehicle ablaze while attempting to abduct its occupants, who escaped before the vehicle was completely engulfed. Troops also rescued six persons whose vehicle lost control amid the gunfire, subsequently clearing the vehicle from the highway to restore traffic flow.

The successful operations underscore the troops’ rapid response and continued efforts to protect communities and motorists across the Joint Task Force’s area of responsibility.

The story of Operation Hadin Kai is therefore not the story of one man or one command. It is the story of collective courage.

Of battles fought.
Of communities reclaimed.
Of captives rescued.
Of families reunited.
Of losses remembered.
And of hope that refuses to die.
