In the heart of Southeastern Nigeria, where the echoes of ancient resilience meet the aspirations of a modern generation, a transformative leadership story is unfolding. It is the story of His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma, a man whose tenure has become synonymous with the “3R” philosophy: Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery.

As we navigate through 2026, the footprints of Governor Uzodimma’s leadership are no longer just visible in the asphalt of dualized roads or the digital literacy of the youth; they are etched in the renewed spirit of the Nigerian people. From the bustling streets of Owerri to the remote electoral wards across the 36 states, Uzodimma has emerged not only as the “Onwa” of Imo but as a national bridge-builder, a tireless mobilizer, and one of the most influential Igbo political leaders of our time.
When Governor Uzodimma assumed office, he inherited a state marred by decayed infrastructure and a deficit of public trust. Rising to the challenge with his signature 3R Mantra, he orchestrated a road revolution that has turned Imo into a vast construction site of progress.
From the dualization of the flagship Owerri-Orlu and Owerri-Okigwe roads to the construction of over 120 quality roads across the 27 Local Government Areas, the Governor has proven that connectivity is the bedrock of commerce. Signature projects like the Assumpta Flyover and the massive International ConferenceCentrer in Orlu are not merely concrete and steel; they are symbols of a state reclaimed from the brink of ruin
While others were stuck in traditional models of empowerment, Uzodimma looked toward the future. Recognizing that the global currency is no longer just physical labour but digital skill, he launched the SkillUpImo Project. This initiative has already equipped over 50,000 youths with high-demand skills in software development, cybersecurity, and data analytics.

By institutionalizing this vision through the University of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Omuma, he is ensuring that Imo graduates are not job seekers but job creators. The transition from “tricycling to coding” is a testament to a leader who understands that empowering the youth is the ultimate security strategy.
A healthy state is a wealthy state. Under Uzodimma’s watch, the Imo State Health Insurance Agency has achieved record-breaking coverage, ensuring that quality healthcare is no longer a luxury for the rich but a right for every Imolite. With the rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres in every ward and the ongoing establishment of state-of-the-art general hospitals in all 27 LGAs, he has brought healing to the doorsteps of the vulnerable

In the public sector, he has restored the dignity of labour. By implementing a competitive minimum wage of ₦104,000, the historic introduction of the 13th month salary and automating the payroll system to eliminate “ghost workers,” and ensuring the prompt payment of pensions, the Governor has turned the civil service into a motivated engine of development.
Realizing that industrialization cannot thrive in darkness, the “Light Up Imo” project via the Orashi Electricity Company is currently providing a steady power supply to the Owerri metropolis, with plans to expand to every local council. Furthermore, the dredging of the Orashi River to link the Atlantic Ocean is a visionary masterstroke that will turn Imo into a maritime hub.

On security, Uzodimma has balanced “iron and empathy.” While providing the security agencies with the necessary tools to maintain law and order, he has shown unrivalled compassion—donating hundreds of millions of naira to the families of fallen heroes and victims of insecurity. His governance is defined by accountability and transparency, ensuring that every kobo of the state’s resources is channelled toward the common good.
Beyond the borders of Imo, Governor Hope Uzodimma has emerged as the quintessential bridge-builder, connecting the Southeast to the centre of Nigerian politics.

As the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Uzodimma has taken on a leadership role that extends beyond Imo State. This position has allowed him to influence policy discussions and decisions at the national level, advocating for the interests of his constituents and the people of Nigeria. His leadership within this forum has been characterized by a commitment to progressive governance, focusing on economic development, social welfare, and the empowerment of citizens.
Uzodimma’s role as Chairman has enabled him to collaborate with other governors, sharing best practices and strategies that can enhance governance across the country. By fostering unity among progressive leaders, he is contributing to a collective effort to drive positive change in Nigeria. His leadership in this forum reflects his belief that collaboration and partnership are essential for achieving meaningful progress.

As the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Governor Uzodimma has played a pivotal role in mobilizing grassroots support for the political landscape in Nigeria His tireless efforts in setting up the organization’s structures across the 8,809 electoral wards, 774 Local Government Areas, 36 States, and the Federal Capital Territory demonstrate his dedication to political mobilization and grassroots engagement.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors have become a powerful force in advocating for progressive policies and supporting the administration of President Tinubu. By fostering a sense of unity and purpose among members, Governor Uzodimma has helped create a robust network of supporters committed to ensuring a resounding victory in the 2027 presidential election. His ability to connect with the electorate and communicate a vision of hope and renewal underscores his effectiveness as a leader.

Through his bridge-building ability and people-centric politics, Governor Uzodimma has emerged as one of the most influential Igbo political leaders in Nigeria today. He has become a voice for the Igbo people, advocating for their rights and interests at the national level. His leadership style, characterized by inclusivity and a focus on development, has resonated with many, positioning him as a role model for aspiring leaders.
By championing the cause of the Igbo people while also promoting national unity, Uzodimma is proving that effective leadership transcends ethnic boundaries. He embodies the qualities of a true statesman, advocating for the interests of his community while also contributing to the broader narrative of national development. His rise to prominence in Nigerian politics is not just about personal ambition; it is about the aspirations of the people he represents.

In conclusion, Governor Hope Uzodimma’s transformative and result-oriented leadership is a testament to the power of effective governance. His achievements in infrastructure, digital economy, healthcare, energy, and social welfare reflect a commitment to improving the lives of citizens and fostering sustainable development. Through compassion, accountability, and a commitment to unity, he is setting a standard for governance that prioritizes the well-being of the people.
As he continues to lead with purpose and passion, there is no doubt that Governor Uzodimma will leave a lasting legacy that inspires future generations of leaders in Nigeria and beyond. His journey is far from over; as he prepares for the upcoming elections and the challenges ahead, one thing remains certain: Governor Hope Uzodimma is a name that will be remembered in the annals of Nigerian history as a transformative leader who dared to dream of a better tomorrow for his people.

I Will Hit the Ground Running from Day One — JCN

Responding to a question from news reporters yesterday at the Abuja Airport on what he would do on his first day in office, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate for Anambra State, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu, outlined a clear plan of immediate action and reform.

According to him, "my first day will begin with an Executive Briefing involving key Permanent Secretaries and Heads of critical Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to get firsthand reports on the true state of government operations and finances." This, of course, will be an adjunct to the report and assessment of my Transition Committee that would have worked, I hope cordially with the representatives of the outgoing administration.

He added that he would then sign his prioritized First-Day Executive Orders, starting with security, transparency, and accountability, to set the tone for a new era of adaptive, responsive, and people-driven leadership.

Mr. Nwosu further revealed that he intends to immediately reconstitute the State Security Trust Fund Committee, bringing in both retired and serving senior security officers with comparative experience, to strengthen the state security archtecture and especially enhance human intelligence (humint) at the local levels to ensure the safety of lives and property.

In addition, he said, "I intend to set up a committee to review the civil service remuneration and retraining programme, thus aligning it with my administration’s e-Government policy that will ensure transparency and efficiency."

Nwosu emphasized that, having pledged to serve for only four years, his government would hit the ground running from day one, focusing on quick-impact initiatives and low hanging fruits that will deliver real and tangible change.

He assured Ndi Anambra that his administration would mark the beginning of a new chapter of purposeful, adaptive, transformative, accountable, and result-oriented governance. "We intend to be very accessible at all levels. That is the essence of public service."

DR OKELEKWE SOLICITS WITH TRANSPORTERS FOR FAIR PRICES AS HE WISHES TRAVELERS SAFE

The Chairman of GLOVIC group Nigeria limited and philanthropist, Chief Dr. Kodilichukwu Okelekwe(Ubom Nibo), has extended his heartfelt wishes for safe travels to Nigerians journeying to their various destinations for the Christmas holidays. In his goodwill message, Chief Okelekwe emphasized the importance of safety and care during this festive season, which was why he earlier organized FRSC Officers to teach motorists and Ndi Anambra on best road practices.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the high cost of fuel, Chief Okelekwe appealed to drivers and transport operators to remain fair in their dealings with travelers. He urged them not to exploit the festive season by inflating transport fares, noting that many Nigerians are already grappling with economic hardships.

“This is a season of love, giving, and unity. I urge transporters to show compassion by charging reasonable fares and not to exploit the situation for personal gain. Let us all contribute to making this festive season enjoyable for everyone,” he said.

Chief Okelekwe also encouraged travelers to plan their journeys carefully, adhere to road safety rules, and avoid reckless behavior that could endanger lives. He extended his prayers for a joyous and peaceful celebration and called for collective responsibility to ensure safety on the roads.

DR OKELEKWE CALLS ON CBN AND BANKS TO ADDRESS ONGOING CASH SCARCITY

The Chairman of GLOVIC Group Nigeria limited, Chief Dr. Kodilichukwu Okelekwe (Ubom Nibo) has raised concerns over the persistent cash scarcity in the country, urging the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and commercial banks to take immediate action to alleviate the situation. Speaking during a recent event in his head office, Dr. Okelekwe stressed the critical need for accessible cash as Nigerians prepare for this December festive season.

Dr. Okelekwe lamented the hardship faced by citizens in accessing their own currency, describing the current situation as unsustainable. “We cannot continue to buy our own naira exorbitantly from POS vendors. This is unacceptable and unfair to Nigerians who rely heavily on cash transactions, particularly during this festive period when economic activities are heightened,” he said.

The GLOVIC Group Chairman highlighted the challenges faced by traders, artisans, and small business owners who depend on cash for their daily operations, adding that the cash scarcity is hampering economic activities and causing undue frustration among the populace. He urged the CBN to collaborate with commercial banks to ensure the smooth circulation of naira notes.

“Nigerians deserve better. The festive season is a time of celebration and economic activity, and it is crucial that people have access to their funds without unnecessary stress. The CBN and banks must act decisively to address this issue,” Dr. Okelekwe emphasized.

The call comes as many Nigerians continue to report difficulties in withdrawing cash from banks and ATMs, with some being forced to pay exorbitant fees to access naira notes from POS merchants. This situation, according to Dr. Okelekwe, undermines the credibility of the financial system and the economy at large.
