THE UNSENT MESSAGE
After five years together, they broke up over something small.
Or maybe it wasn’t small. Maybe it was five years of little things that were never said.
That night, he sat on the edge of his bed staring at his phone.
He typed:
“I miss you.”
Deleted.
Typed again:
“I’m sorry for everything.”
Deleted.
He scrolled through old photos. Birthdays. Road trips. Random Tuesday selfies.
He told himself, If she wanted to fix this, she would text first.
Pride is loud. Regret is quiet.
Weeks passed.
Then one day, he saw her at a café. She looked happy. Different. Lighter.
He almost walked in.
Almost.
Instead, he watched through the window, realizing something painful:
Sometimes we don’t lose people because we stopped loving them.
We lose them because we stopped choosing them.
Be honest — who should text first?
