There is this funny thing some of you patients do when you visit the pharmacy.
You walk into the store, ask for a particular drug, confirm it’s availability, make payment, receive the packaged drug and quietly walk out without asking any questions.
Some may have had a session with a family doctor or medical expect.
Others may feel they already know what to do.
Another set would assume they can take it just like every other drugs.
Sometimes even when the pharmacist offers to give you a light information on your medications, some ‘I-Too-Knows’ will quickly tell them “Don’t worry I know how to take it”
Then you get home. Time to take your drug, you don’t know what to do. Soon you start assuming.
Now hear this,
Away from purchasing and receiving your medications, knowing what your are treating and how possibly to take your medications is not just the only thing there is to know when taking your drugs.
Your medical professionals owe you answers to all your questions whether styupid or not; just ask it.
That money you paid is not just for your drugs, but for their professional advices as well on how to get the best out of your medications.
In case you don’t know, here are more questions you can ask them;
How do I take it?
What can I eat and what can I not eat before, during or while taking this drug?
What is best time of the day to take it?
What quantity and how many times do I take it in a day?
Can I take any other drug with it?
Is there any special food I can it for it to work better?
What side effect should I expect as I take this drug?
And more.
Don’t just assume.
Even if you know, it is not wrong to add to what you already know or confirm your knowledge.
Always talk to your health care professional.
Your health is your wealth.
