The story of the Okene Club is being rewritten, as Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi breathes new life into the once modest facility, transforming it into a world-class hub of recreation, sports, and social engagement.

For years, Okene Club was seen as a simple gathering spot, a basketball pitch, a beer garden, and a hangout place with a rugged edge. Today, under the vision of Dr. Abdullahi, it is being reborn into a landmark destination that will serve the young and old, families and visitors, with first-class leisure and relaxation experiences.

Work is already well underway. Site leveling has been completed, boreholes have been sunk, and spectator stands are nearing completion. What was once a small community center is now on course to become a beacon of modern living, featuring facilities that will attract not just locals but also visitors from across Kogi State and beyond.

Beyond the construction, the project carries the promise of jobs, youth engagement, and renewed social life. It is more than a facelift; it is a vision to uplift a community, energize its people, and place Okene firmly on the map as a center of recreation and pride.

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that three officers were killed when suspected hoodlums ambushed a patrol team along the Okoloke–Pategi road in Egbe.

In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, explained that the assailants emerged from the bush and opened fire on the patrol team during their routine operation.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, ordered the immediate deployment of tactical reinforcements.

The units include operatives from the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Intelligence Department, and Quick Response Team, working in synergy with other security agencies to restore calm and track down the perpetrators.

The CP also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Investigation Department to commence a thorough investigation into the attack.
He further appealed to residents of the area to support the police with credible information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the culprits.

NATIONAL: A Magistrate Court has ordered a woman identified as Jennifer to pay ₦450,000 in damages after she allegedly collected transport fare from a man, Emmanuel, but failed to honor the arrangement to visit him.

According to the case presented before the court, Jennifer received ₦30,000 from Emmanuel as transportation support but did not show up as agreed. The court ruled that her actions amounted to a breach of understanding and ordered her to refund the money with additional damages, bringing the total to ₦450,000.

The judgment serves as a reminder on the legal consequences of financial transactions made in bad faith, and the importance of honoring agreements to avoid avoidable disputes.
