It’s surprising how, in the body of Christ today, the message of holiness is slowly becoming “old-school.” The moment someone stands up to preach about living right, walking uprightly, and separating ourselves from sin, people quickly tag them as “holier than thou.”
But isn’t holiness supposed to be our foundation? Our identity? Our calling?
What hurts most is this:
When someone boasts about wealth, achievements, connections, or comfort, we applaud them. We celebrate their success stories. We call them “blessed.”
Yet, when another person boldly calls us back to holiness, the very thing Scripture says without it no man shall see the Lord, we rise against them.
It’s painful, because we’ve gradually normalized everything except the very thing God called us to pursue. Holiness is not outdated. It’s not for the “old generation.” It’s not legalism. It is the lifestyle that keeps our hearts aligned with God.
If the church fights those who call us to live right but celebrate everything else, then we are losing the very fire that made us light in the first place.
May we return to what truly matters. May we find joy again in purity, in consecration, in pleasing God, not pleasing men.
Holiness is not old-fashioned. It’s our lifeline
