ECWA Elects General Secretary and Vice President at 73rd General Council Meeting

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) during the ongoing General Church Council has successfully conducted elections for the offices of General Secretary and Vice President, held at the ECWA International Conference Center in Jos, Plateau State.
Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe was re-elected the ECWA General Secretary, while, Rev. Chidi Joseph Nmadubuko was elected ECWA Vice President and Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Babatunde Omidiji was elected as the new Trustee representing Zone 9
The Council, which brings together church leaders, delegates, and representatives from all ECWA districts and zones across Nigeria and beyond, serves as the highest decision-making body of the denomination. This year’s gathering, which began with opening prayers and a review of the church’s mission progress, featured elections as a key item on the agenda.

General Secretary Re-elected for Second Term

In a vote of confidence in his leadership, Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe was re-elected as ECWA General Secretary for a second term.
His re-election reflects the Council’s approval of his stewardship during his first tenure, during which he oversaw administrative reforms and expanded outreach initiatives. Dr. Asheshe will continue to serve as the chief administrative officer of the church.

New Vice President Emerges

The race for the Vice President position was conducted in a peaceful and orderly environment. Rev. Chidi Joseph Nmadubuko emerged victorious after securing 220 votes.
Rev. Nmadubuko brings a wealth of pastoral and leadership experience to the role, and will work closely with the ECWA President in providing strategic direction for the church.

Trustee Election for Zone 9

In another development, Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Babatunde Omidiji was elected as Trustee for Zone 9. His election ensures continuity in the management of ECWA’s trust properties and legal matters within the zone.

Prayer and Dedication

The atmosphere at the Conference Center was one of solemnity and gratitude. Delegates offered prayers for the newly elected officers, asking for divine wisdom, strength, and unity as they lead ECWA in the coming years.

We pray that God grants the General Secretary and the new Vice President wisdom to lead ECWA for His glory. Amen.

The growing state of insecurity in Nigeria marked by banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and communal violence has created deep fear and uncertainty in everyday life. Homes, roads, and even places of worship are no longer guaranteed safe spaces. This reality calls for sober reflection, not only from government and security agencies but also from the Church.

The Church must recognize that faith does not eliminate the presence of danger but equips believers to respond wisely and courageously. Preparing members should go beyond spiritual encouragement to include practical awareness, teaching vigilance, emergency response, and the importance of community support systems. Just as Scripture encourages both prayer and watchfulness, believers must be spiritually grounded and physically prepared.

Ultimately, the goal is to raise believers who are not only prayerful but also discerning, resilient, and ready to navigate difficult realities while holding firmly to their faith.

ECWA CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF REV. SUNDAY BOBAI AGANG, THANKS GOD FOR FAITHFUL PRAYERS

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) wishes to announce with immense gratitude and joy the release of our dear pastor, Rev. Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, who was abducted by unknown gunmen. We are delighted to confirm that he has regained his freedom and is currently safe.

We thank God Almighty for answering the fervent prayers of the entire ECWA family and the global Church of Christ. This release is a testament to God’s faithfulness and the power of collective prayer. We extend our sincere appreciation to all brethren who stood with us in prayer during this trying period.

While we rejoice at the safe return of Rev. Agang, his ordeal brings to the forefront the troubling and persistent issue of insecurity in our nation. The rising wave of kidnapping, which has sadly become a means of livelihood for some, is a threat to our collective existence and must be addressed urgently.

We therefore call on the government at all levels to rise to its primary constitutional responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of every Nigerian. It is imperative that decisive and sustained actions be taken to dismantle the criminal networks behind these heinous acts and restore peace and security across the country.

We continue to pray for the peace of Nigeria and the safety of all citizens.

We wish to inform you with a heavy heart that one of our Trustees, Rev. Prof. Sunday B. Agang, was kidnapped yesterday. This distressing development calls for our immediate and earnest response as a family of faith.

This was confirmed by the ECWA General Secretary.

We kindly urge all to rise in fervent prayers for his safety, protection, and swift release from captivity. Let us also pray that God grants wisdom and strength to all those involved in efforts toward securing his freedom.

“The Lord is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

May we stand united in faith at this critical time, trusting God for divine intervention.
