Facing Goliaths, Preserving Covenant, and Navigating the Dangers of Destiny

1. Introduction
Day 70 captures one of the most defining stories in all of Scripture: David vs. Goliath. A shepherd boy confronts a national terror with nothing but a sling, five stones, and covenant confidence. But this reading is not just about slaying giants, it is about the dynamics of destiny.
In 1 Samuel 17, David defeats Goliath not with weapons, but with revelation: “I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts.”
In 1 Samuel 18, the afterglow of victory brings both favor (Jonathan’s covenant, Israel’s song) and envy (Saul’s insecurity).
In 1 Samuel 19–20, Saul’s hatred intensifies, and David must navigate betrayal, warfare, and survival while clinging to covenant with Jonathan.
👉 This section shows us that destiny attracts both applause and attacks. Your Goliath victory will draw songs, but also spears. Yet God’s covenant will preserve you.
2. Foundational Scripture Insight
1 Samuel 17:45 – “Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.”
1 Samuel 17:50 – “So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone… but there was no sword in the hand of David.”
1 Samuel 18:3 – “Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.”
1 Samuel 19:10 – “And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin: but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence…”
1 Samuel 20:42 – “Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the Lord, saying, The Lord be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever.”
3. Ten Prophetic Lessons from 1 Samuel 17–20
1️⃣ Giants Are Opportunities, Not Obstacles (1 Samuel 17)
Israel saw a problem; David saw an opportunity for testimony.
Prophetic Insight: What looks like an impossible mountain is your platform for enthronement.
2️⃣ Covenant Confidence is Stronger than Carnal Weapons (1 Samuel 17:45)
David did not rely on Saul’s armor, but on covenant revelation.
. Prophetic Insight: Your advantage in destiny is not equipment, but covenant alignment.
3️⃣ Destiny Provokes Songs and Snares (1 Samuel 18:6–9)
The women sang, “Saul has slain his thousands, David his ten thousands.” Songs of honor provoked Saul’s jealousy.
. Prophetic Insight: Applause can become the seed of envy in others. Be ready as greatness carries persecution.
4️⃣ Covenant Relationships Preserve Destiny (1 Samuel 18:3; 20:16–17)
Jonathan risked his throne for David’s destiny.
Prophetic Insight: God places covenant helpers on your path. Value them; they may preserve your life in dark seasons.
5️⃣ Spears Will Fly, but God Preserves (1 Samuel 19:10)
Saul hurled spears at David, yet David escaped.
Prophetic Insight: No spear formed against your destiny shall prosper.
6️⃣ Favor Attracts Fury (1 Samuel 18:12–16)
Saul “feared David, because the Lord was with him.”
Prophetic Insight: When God’s presence rests on you, expect both attraction and opposition.
7️⃣ Giants Fall by Small Stones (1 Samuel 17:40–50)
David’s stone brought down the giant. It was not the size of the weapon, but the weight of the covenant.
Prophetic Insight: Small acts of obedience will produce massive testimonies.
8️⃣ Covenant is Stronger than Bloodline (1 Samuel 20:30–32)
Jonathan defied his father Saul to protect David. Destiny alliances can outweigh family pressure.
Prophetic Insight: In destiny, covenant connection is thicker than blood ties.
9️⃣ Destiny Attracts Hatred Without Cause (1 Samuel 18–20)
David did no wrong, yet Saul hated him.
Prophetic Insight: Stop trying to explain yourself. Sometimes your anointing alone is the offense.

Despite Saul’s plans, David survived. Covenant carried him until the throne.
Prophetic Insight: Every hidden plot against you will fail; covenant will keep you until your enthronement.
4. Daily Life Application
My Goliaths are platforms for glory, not punishment.
I must trust covenant revelation above carnal resources.
I will not be intoxicated by applause nor broken by envy.
I must treasure destiny-preserving relationships.
I will not fear spears as God’s preservation is my shield.
I accept that favor attracts warfare; it’s proof of destiny.
Small obedience will birth giant testimonies.
I will prioritize covenant connections over blood manipulations.
I will not waste time explaining myself to those who hate my calling.
God’s covenant will keep me until I sit on my throne.
5. Wisdom Nuggets
💡 Every Goliath is a prophetic announcement of your enthronement.
💡 Favor without warfare is an illusion.
💡 Spears cannot kill a man preserved by covenant.
💡 Songs of men can provoke envy; only the approval of God sustains.
💡 Small stones in covenant hands outweigh giant weapons.
💡 Covenant friends are destiny preservers; value them.

Declare with faith:
1. My Goliaths will fall before me this month.
2. I am armed with covenant confidence, not carnal weapons.
3. No spear will pierce my destiny; I am divinely preserved.

5. My testimony will provoke songs, but envy will not destroy me.
6. I refuse to wear Saul’s armor; I choose covenant revelation.
7. My small obedience will birth undeniable testimonies.
8. Every evil plot against me will fail by the covenant.
9. I am God’s David, chosen, preserved, and enthroned.
10. My September shall deliver all my undeniable testimonies.
7. Prayer Points:
1. Lord, bring down every Goliath standing against my destiny.
2. Father, clothe me with covenant confidence.
3. O God, preserve me from every spear thrown at my life.
4. Lord, silence voices of envy against my testimony.
5. Father, raise covenant helpers like Jonathan for me.
6. O Lord, let my small acts of obedience produce giant results.
7. Lord, turn songs of men into lasting testimonies.
8. Father, destroy every hidden plot against my rising.
9. O God, let Your covenant secure my enthronement.
10. Lord, make me unstoppable until I sit on the throne You ordained for me.
8. Real-Life Illustration
A young businessman once lost every major contract because of false accusations from a rival. Instead of fighting with carnal weapons, he prayed and leaned on covenant relationships. One of his loyal friends introduced him to a quiet investor. That connection opened a door that made him a national name.
👉 Just like David, the spears failed, but covenant preserved him.
9. Take-Home Assignment
Reflection:
Who are the Goliaths confronting me right now, and what covenant weapon do I carry?
Prophetic Exercise:
Take a small stone and write “TESTIMONY” on it. Declare prophetically: “This small act of faith will bring down my Goliath.”

10. Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for the covenant confidence that slays giants. I decree every Goliath in my life must fall this month. Preserve me from envy, spears, and hidden plots. Surround me with covenant helpers, and establish me until my enthronement is undeniable.
Father, let my small obedience produce giant testimonies, and let my September deliver full evidence of Your glory in my life in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
