PRESS STATEMENT.

Today marks another historic milestone in our collective effort to strengthen and professionalize the Nigeria Police Force.
On behalf of the good people of Fufore/Song Federal Constituency, and indeed the entire Adamawa State, I wish to sincerely appreciate His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for graciously granting assent to the Bill establishing the Nigeria Police Training Institutes and also to the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (Amendment) Bill 2025.
This outstanding step once again demonstrates Mr. President’s unwavering commitment to his Renewed Hope Agenda — an agenda anchored on reform, inclusion, empowerment, and national development. By signing these crucial bills into law, President Tinubu has further proven his dedication to enhancing national security and ensuring that the Nigeria Police Force is better equipped for modern challenges.
As the pioneer of the Bill for the Establishment of the Nigeria Police Training Institutes, I am deeply fulfilled to witness this vision become a reality. Working in close collaboration with the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, ably chaired by Senator Ahmed Abdulhamid Mallam-Madori, and with the strong institutional support of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, we successfully championed this legislative process to the stage of presidential assent.
I am also profoundly grateful to announce that my constituency, Fufore/Song Federal Constituency, has been graciously considered in this remarkable initiative, with the siting of one of the newly established Police Training Institutes in MALABU, Fufore Local Government Area.
This development is not just a project, it is a legacy for our people. It will bring immense socio-economic benefits, create jobs, foster youth empowerment, and serve as a hub for training and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force across the North-East region.

After French Cameroon got its independence on January 1st 1961 and Nigeria scheduled for independence later that same year 1st October 1961, The British didn’t know what to do with its territories, so they agreed on a UN-administered plebiscite held on the 11th of February 1961.

During the plebiscite, the Northern Cameroons opted a union with Nigeria and Southern Cameroons joined French Cameroun.

The Northern Cameroons was integrated into Nigeria and became the Sardauna province of Northern Nigeria consisting of Borno, Adamawa and Taraba state of Nigeria 🇳🇬 meanwhile the Southern Cameroons opted to unite with French Cameroun and became the North west and South west region of Cameroon 🇨🇲.

The people of Northern Cameroon and southern Cameroons are same peoples who decided to join Nigeria and Cameroun respectively.

HE Atiku Abubakar Mourns Modibbo Dahiru Ganye

The Periscope Global - Abuja

The Waziri Adamawa and former Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, has expressed profound grief over the passing of Sheikh Modibbo Dahiru Aliyu Ganye, a revered Islamic scholar and illustrious son of Ganye.

In a heartfelt tribute, Atiku described the late Sheikh as “a beacon of knowledge and piety, a lifelong friend and a spiritual companion whose humility and devotion to Allah stood as a shining example for generations.”

The former Vice President recalled their deep personal and spiritual bond, noting that Sheikh Modibbo’s wisdom transcended scholarship, touching lives with rare grace, sincerity and service to humanity.

“His life was a lesson in simplicity, scholarship and sacrifice. He leaves behind not only a grieving family and community but also a legacy of light for the wider Muslim Ummah,” Atiku lamented.

He prayed for the repose of the scholar’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, admit him into Jannatul Firdaus and grant his family, the people of Ganye, and the Muslim faithful the fortitude to bear the monumental loss.

The Man at 90: He Built Nigerian Ports, A Life On Principle and Pan-African Pride.

“Once in a lifetime, remarkable personalities appear; some are well known, while others contribute quietly."

As Dr. Bamanga Mohammed Tukur turned 90, Nigeria, friends and associates did not merely mark another birthday. They celebrated a life of unprecedented public service: one built on infrastructure, integrity, and a persistent belief in Africa’s dignity. In an era when many political careers are stained with scandal, Tukur's record remains remarkably clean, never formally accused, never under indictment, yet ever ready to give account of his stewardship.

Born 15 September 1935, in what is now Adamawa State, Tukur first rose to national prominence when he was appointed General Manager and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in 1975, a post he held until 1982. In those years, under his leadership,

Nigeria transformed its ports landscape: expansions at Apapa (including the Third Wharf extension), development of Tin Can Island Port, and improvements in Warri, Sapele, Calabar and Onne ports among others. The port infrastructure built under his watch eased congestion, lowered transaction costs for trade, and positioned Nigeria to be a hub in West Africa’s maritime trade.

From infrastructure builder to political leader: in 1983, Tukur was elected Governor of Gongola State — now divided into Adamawa and Taraba. Though his governorship was short-lived owing to national political upheaval, it paved the way for further public service: he served as Minister for Industries (1994-1995), and several years later, in 2012, became National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), resigning in 2014.

After stepping down as PDP chairman, President Goodluck Jonathan appointed him Ambassador-at-Large in mid-2014, entrusting him with “special duties” – an acknowledgement of his long experience, credibility, and ongoing relevance in national affairs.

Beyond Nigeria, Tukur’s influence is continental. He headed the African Business Roundtable (ABR), chaired the NEPAD Business Group, served as vice-chairman of the International Ports & Harbours Association, and held high posts in global cargo-handling and maritime organizations. His awards and honours span nations: Nigeria’s Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON); the Commander of the Order of the Mono, Togo; Commander of the Order of the Niger of Côte d’Ivoire, among others.

Perhaps as important as what he built is how he built it: transparently, courageously, without scandal. Even when others in high office fled accountability, Tukur repeatedly volunteered to submit himself to scrutiny. As a non-African-borne observer once remarked, his firm stance that Africa is not a “begging plate” but a trade partner of equals earned him respect in capitals from Accra to Abidjan, Lagos to Johannesburg. He supported the Afeican Diaspora community and initiated the as the sixth region of Africa at the AU summits and internationally, founding main and top organisations for the Diaspora.

He is also blessed with family: children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, all heirs to a legacy of aspiration and service.

Dr. Tukur’s 90 years remind us of what is possible when leadership is bound by principle: when infrastructure is not simply about steel and concrete but about enabling trade, reducing inequality, forging national dignity. His example is a benchmark for future generations of Nigerians, Africans, and the Black diaspora: build with vision, govern with integrity, defend African.

THIS IS GOVERNMENT DAY SECONDARY SCHOOL SHAGARI YOLA TOWN.

Our schools in Adamawa State are falling apart!
While the government spends millions building new schools for political show, they abandon the old ones our children still use every day. Broken walls, leaking roofs, no desks — is this what education means to them?

We don’t need more flashy buildings — we need the ones we already have to be fixed! 🛠️📚

Stop the neglect. Fix our schools. Invest in our future.
