DR. MOHAMMED KYARI DIKWA WELCOMES NUC RESOURCE VERIFICATION TEAM TO UMMAH UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA.
The Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Ummah University of Nigeria, Abuja, Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, mni, has welcomed the National Universities Commission (NUC) Resource Verification Team to the University, describing the exercise as another significant milestone towards the commencement of academic activities at the institution.
Speaking at the University during the Resource Verification Visit, Dr. Dikwa, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Management, staff and the entire University community, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the National Universities Commission for their support and guidance in the establishment and development of the University.
Dr. Dikwa particularly expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the approval that made the establishment of Ummah University of Nigeria possible. He also acknowledged the support of the Vice President, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, the Honourable Minister of State for Education, and the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Education towards the development of Nigeria's higher education sector.
He further commended the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, FCVSN, for his leadership and commitment to quality and standards in the Nigerian University System, while appreciating the Management, Directors and staff of the Commission for their professionalism, guidance and encouragement throughout the establishment process.
The Founder and Pro-Chancellor described the Resource Verification exercise as more than a regulatory requirement, noting that it provides an opportunity for independent experts to assess the University's preparedness and offer professional guidance on areas requiring further improvement.
According to him, Ummah University was established with a sincere desire to contribute to Nigeria's educational development through the provision of quality, accessible and morally grounded university education.
He stated that the University's philosophy is anchored on “Knowledge, Faith and Service,” with the vision of producing graduates who combine academic knowledge and professional skills with discipline, integrity, character, innovation, entrepreneurship and a sense of responsibility to society.
Dr. Dikwa noted that substantial investments have been made in physical infrastructure, academic facilities, laboratories, ICT resources, library facilities, staffing and the general teaching and learning environment.
He, however, emphasised that the quality of a university cannot be determined by its physical infrastructure alone, but also by the quality of its academic programmes, teachers and researchers, governance systems, students, research output, and the knowledge and values it contributes to society.
UMMAH UNIVERSITY SET FOR PROPOSED OCTOBER 2 COMMENCEMENT
Dr. Dikwa disclosed that the University is aspiring to commence academic activities on 2nd October 2026, In shā’ Allāh, subject to the completion of the necessary regulatory processes and approvals.
He explained that considerable resources and efforts had been committed towards ensuring that the programmes presented for verification possess the required human and material resources for effective take-off.
For the current verification exercise, the University is presenting three Faculties; Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Faculty of Computing, and Faculty of Management and Social Sciences; comprising seven Departments and sixteen academic programmes for verification and subsequent take-off, subject to NUC approval.
