This amounts to 15.9 million students who spent about N159 billion, translating to an average of N10,000 per student monthly on mobile data, π•π”Έβ„π•Šπ•€π•‹π•€β„™π•†π•ƒ β„π”Όβ„™π•†β„π•‹π”Όβ„π•Š findings revealed.

Further investigations revealed that the virtual teaching and learning now being adopted by some secondary schools, universities, polytechnics and other higher institutions had further increased data consumption of students post-Covid-19.

This is in addition to the contents consumed by these same students on social media, especially, on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, instagram and twitter, among others.

NYSC to review camp registration process

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has disclosed plans to review its registration process in its Orientation camps to checkmate attempts by unqualified persons to enroll for national service.

These, according to the scheme, include fake graduates appearing as Prospective Corps Members and persons who, having served previously or issued with an Exemption Certificate, attempt to present themselves again for National Service.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, made the disclosure while presenting his keynote address at the 2023 Batch β€˜A’ Pre-Orientation Course in Abuja on Wednesday.

β€œThe registration process in the Camp must, therefore, be reviewed and strengthened to checkmate the activities of these fraudulent elements.
β€œLike we have warned previously at various forums, any unqualified person caught and those aiding them will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution,” he said.

Also, he expressed the scheme’s commitment to Corps Members’ security, stressing the need for state coordinators and other stakeholders to evaluate the security situations in all Camp locations.
β€œThere should be proper surveillance of the Camps and adjoining areas before and during the exercise.

β€œNo doubt, there has been tremendous improvement in this area. However, security remains a matter of priority in all aspects of our operation, especially during the Orientation Course,” he said.

He stated that the workshop is aimed at reviewing the conduct of the previous Orientation Courses with a view to strategizing for optimal performance.
β€œMoreover, the next Orientation Course is coming at this time of our renewed focus on the security and general welfare of Corps members.

β€œIn this regard, I enjoin every one of you to ensure increased vigilance and channel energies towards a hitch-free exercise.
β€œMore than ever before, the Management is committed to deepening the impact of the Orientation Course on Corps members, especially to prepare them for nation-building,” he said.
