THE STORY OF A FIRST TIME HIKER
As someone with the fear of height, the assignment on "The Hiking Life in Abuja" was a challenge to me. Especially when it was my first assignment at Trust Tv.
I had to prepare myself mentally for both the assignment and the hiking. And upon getting to the hiking venue, i met the hiking cordinating group "Hike Nation" and another group that came to speak to the hikers on a topic.
The hiking journey was flowing seemingly until i started feeling terribly nauseous and almost threw up. The mental fight to climb the hills was beginning to kick in. But with the help of a veteran and one of the staffs of Trust Tv who came as a hiker, i was able to settle in a little before continuing my jounery to the top 😁. To cut the long story short, i got to the top, carried out my assignment and behold, it was time to come down from the hills.
Each time i looked down the hills, i fought back tears, cos i knew that there was no way, i will be able to climb down the hills without falling down. Y'all know that it's easier to go up than come down right? (even though i didn't find the going up easy sha 😂😁😂).
On observing me closely, my two Guardian Angels from earlier came to my rescue. They both held me side by side while i climbed down. I was the last person standing on the hill anyway 😁 and even though i was held, i still couldn't really look down the hills.
Now here are my observations from hiking:
1. There were lots of first timers in the hills with their own struggles.
2. Regular hikers also had a level of struggle in hiking.
3. Some stopped half way because they were so tired and perhaps didn't have enough motivation to continue.
4. Everyone in the hills had different purpose that drove them to be there.
5. The common goal that everyone had was "being present in the hill".
The hiking assignment was a challenge to me, but i am very glad it came cos it helped me cancel the first stage of my fear for height, and gave me some inner realizations of myself that i won't be putting out here today 😉
Now, the question is: Was i scared? YES. Will i go hiking again? YESSSSSSS.
Aside hiking serving as a good form of exercise to me, it also came as a journey of self discovery, which has a lot to do with RESULTS.
Just like my father will say "How will you be able to prove that you have suffered or gone through all this holes without RESULTS. Results are the only things you have to shows off after going through them all, now you will have to decide what RESULT you want to show".
Fun Fact: This Photos/Experience occured on the 21th of April 2024 and i had body pains for 2weeks after the hike 😂🤣😂
Happy Saturday Beautiful People 🥰
I hope this write-up served as a source of help to people like me 😉
