Bandit kingpin, Abu Sanni, in a documentary released, yesterday, by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Africa Eye, said insecurity in Nigeria has become a business everyone, including the government benefits from.

Yusuf Anka, a journalist, who crisscrossed remote bandit enclaves in the state, undertook the 50 minutes documentary titled The Bandit Warlords of Zamfara.

The BBC documentary sheds light on the mindset of bandit leaders, the booming nature of the kidnap-for-ransom business and how insecurity in Zamfara State may have been triggered by ethnic conflict between Hausa and Fulani groups.

The bandits who spoke with the BBC team accused the government of neglecting them and giving priority to the Hausa community.

Sanni said the 279 schoolgirls who were kidnapped on February 27, 2021 in Jangebe, Talata-Mafara Local Council area of Zamfara State by his gang was done to disgrace the government as revenge for sending the military after them.

He said his gang demanded N300 million from government for the release of the schoolgirls but N60 million was paid.

“When the rainy season ended, they sent the military after us. We decided to show the government they should not interfere in our problems. We went to Jangebe and took the students. We wanted to get the government angry,” he said.

“We demanded N300 million but after negotiations, N60 million was paid for their release.”

When asked what the money for the ransom was used for, he said the proceed was spent on buying riffles.

“Everyone is benefiting from terrorism in Nigeria, including the government, from top to bottom. The government get money, though, for our money, blood spill.”

Apostle Chibuzor withdraws Aguba’s marriage gifts, transfers to ladies

By Ekaete Bassey

The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has transferred actor Kenneth Aguba’s gifts to ladies who fought viciously for his hand in marriage.

After Aguba’s relocation to Port Harcourt on July 5 as a result of Chibuzor’s act of benevolence following homeless photos of the actor which went viral, the cleric offered to finance his wedding to any interested lady.

Different ladies signified interest to marry the actor, especially Ella and Anastasia who travelled to Port Harcourt to claim their ‘husband.’

The ladies fought after Aguba declared he would only marry a virgin from Israel.

Since Aguba bluntly refused to settle with any of the interested ladies, Chibuzor transferred Aguba’s gifts to the ladies, Ella and Anastasia.

He made the announcement via the Church’s Facebook platform on Tuesday, promising to sponsor the wedding of the two ladies, pay for their honeymoon in Dubai and give them business capital.

Chibuzor wrote: “I am not in Nigeria. I have been monitoring events happening and I have refused to comment.

“Now I am saying something. As Aguba has refused to marry any woman from Nigeria. I am hereby transferring the gifts to the girls.

“Any man that marries both of them, I will support their wedding and also send them and their husbands on honeymoon in Dubai.”

“But wedding must take place in Port Harcourt and marriage committee will follow them to their villages to confirm if the wedding is real or a scam. After their wedding, each of them shall be given a large sum of money to start a business.

“I have informed authorities, that they are to stay clear from OPM free estate. No more causing nuisance in OPM estate. ”, he added.

Reacting to the cleric’s announcement, Anastasia said she has reconciled with Ella, thanking the man of God for ‘tactically settling their differences’.

Sharing photos of them in a lovely embrace, she captioned the post; “Good news! I wish to announce to the general public that I and Ella Ada have reconciled, we are no longer Enemies. We have now embraced peace and love.

“All thanks to Chibuzor Gift Chinyere General Overseer Omega Power Ministry – OPM who tactical settled our differences.

“Thank you so much Daddy we are so grateful for what u av done. And we are deeply Sorry for the nuisance we created ’s Free Estate on the 18th of July 2022 please sir forgive us, such will never happen again.

“Thanks to Uncle Jay Comedy who brought us (me and Ella) together for reconciliation today.

“And Also I want everyone to know that Aguba is the man after my heart and I still wish to marry him if he would accept me.”

Nigerian doctor charged in the UK with plotting with Senator Ekweremadu and wife for alleged kidney h@rvesting

A Nigerian doctor named Obinna Obeta, 50, residing in the UK has been accused of plotting with former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, to traffic a hom€less man into the UK to h@rvest a kidney for their daughter.

Obinna from Southwark, South London, appeared before the Bexley Magistrate court on Thursday, July 13, and was charged under the Modern Slavery Act with arranging the travel of a 21-year-old man with a view to him being exploited between August last year and this May.

A second charge alleges he conspired with the former Senate President to arrange or facilitate the travel of the man with a view to him being exploited, namely organ h@rvesting.

It would be recalled that the Ekweremadus are being tried in the UK on charges of organ h@rvesting after a 21-year-old man, David Ukpo, they brought to the UK approached the police with claims of being treated as a sl@ve and also claiming that he was ''15'' years old. The Nigerian politician and his wife were arrested in the UK on June 21 after flying into Heathrow from Turkey. It was later discovered that David lied about his age.

Prosecutor Tim Probert-Wood had previously told the court that the case involved 'exploitation and the h@rvesting of an organ.' The Prosecuting counsel told the court that the Ekweremadus had planned to have David's kidney removed so it could be given to their daughter.

However, counsel to Mr. Ekweremadu, Martin Hicks, QC, insisted that the former Senate President and his wife did no wrong. All three defendants, who are in custody, are due to appear at the Old Bailey on August 4.
