The Friend in their bed

She brought a “family friend” into their home — the same home she shared with her husband and children.
He thought nothing of it. Trusted her. Believed her.
But while he slept under one roof, another man shared his wife’s bed.
He felt it. Knew something was wrong.
But he said nothing.
Because the truth?
She was the breadwinner — and in that house, his voice didn’t matter.

You Don’t Need a Rich Man—You Need a Vision.

From the time we are little girls, many of us are told to dream but only within limits. We’re taught to look beautiful, be polite, and most importantly, find a “good man.” The silent message? Your future depends on who you marry.

And so many women grow up believing that their worth is tied to a man. That success comes when you marry well. That if he is rich, powerful, or influential, your life is made. But no one tells us what often comes with that dream when it’s built on dependence instead of purpose. No one talks about the abuse, the control, the silence, the suffering.

But today, I want to tell you the truth: You don’t need a rich man to make you rich.

What you need is a vision. A purpose. A dream that you refuse to let go of. And the courage to walk your own path even when it’s hard.

Yes, building your life from the ground up takes perseverance. It takes dedication. It takes long nights, tough days, and moments when giving up seems easier. But the reward? It is freedom. It’s peace. It’s a life you can live on your own terms.

To every woman who has been made to feel like her only value is in being someone’s wife hear me now: You are more than your relationship status. You are more than what a man can offer you. Your mind, your skills, your ideas they can take you anywhere.

Start small if you must. Learn a skill. Take a course. Sell a product. Serve with excellence. Build a brand. Start again if you fail. And again. You are capable. You are intelligent. And you are stronger than you’ve been told.

We have to stop glorifying the idea that suffering in luxury is better than struggling in peace. A mansion is not worth your mental health. Designer bags are not worth your dignity. Marriage is not worth your life if it costs you your soul.

Choose growth. Choose peace. Choose you.

Because the truth is, you don’t need to marry a king to become a queen.

You only need to rise.

Meet Our Total Woman for the month

Here are ten positive things about Mrs. Blessing Otse (Mummy Black), the mother of Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as Very Dark Man (VDM):

1. Humility: She exemplifies humility in her daily life, treating everyone with respect and kindness, regardless of their social status. Her modest demeanour inspires those around her.

2. Dignity in Teaching: As an educator, she approaches her teaching job with dignity and passion, recognizing the profound impact education has on shaping young minds and futures. Her commitment to teaching reflects her dedication to community development.

3. Integrity: She maintains a strong sense of integrity, even amidst wealth and affluence. She serves as a role model for her son and others, demonstrating that true success is measured by one’s character and values.

4. Love for Children: Her deep love for children is evident in her nurturing approach, both in her family and her professional life. She believes in the potential of every child and works tirelessly to support their growth and development.

5. Advocate for Education: Mummy Black as she is fondly called is a staunch advocate for education, understanding its transformative power. She encourages all to pursue knowledge and use it as a tool for social change.

6. Role Model as a Mother: As a true African mother, she embodies the qualities of strength, resilience, and compassion. Her guidance and support have played a crucial role in shaping VDM into the fearless activist he is today.

7. Empowerment of Others: She empowers those around her, especially young women, by encouraging them to pursue their dreams and aspirations. She believes in lifting others as she climbs.

8. She is the mother of VeryDarkMan whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, known for his activism, human rights work, and influence in Nigerian society.

Martins Vincent Otse was born on the 8 of April 1994 popularly He is a Nigerian revolutionary, human rights activist, critic, philanthropist, and influencer who is a prominent figure in Nigerian civil and political rights. A controversial figure accused of speaking ill of the country and its governance. He grew up in Kaduna, Nigeria.

9. Supportive Environment: She creates a loving and supportive home environment where her son and others feel safe to express themselves and pursue their passions. This nurturing atmosphere fosters confidence and boldness.

10. Legacy of Values: Through her actions and teachings, Mummy Black instils important values in her son and the community, such as respect, hard work, and the importance of standing up for what is right. Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Mrs. Blessing Otse’s qualities and contributions makes her a remarkable figure, not only in her son’s life but also in the broader community.

The recent controversy surrounding the arrest of VDM by the men of EFCC , and the unwarranted troll at mummy black concerning her profession as a teacher at her age, clearly shows a woman who strongly believes in active service and dignity in hard work(labour). This again goes a long way to support and give credibility to the activities of her son.

What’s your take.

WHAT A LOSS

A Zambian Father who left three kids at home to pick up their mother, only to return home to a house burnt beyond recognition. It is alleged that the fire was probably triggered by thunderstorm.

No parent deserve to bury one child, let alone all the three.

It was quiet sad and disheartening seeing that woman running around at the airport shouting “All of them, All of them” at first it felt very confusing as many people thought she was referring to all on board, not knowing she meant all her kids, were gone, within a twinkle of an eye. All three children gone with the ashes.

Dear Lord, no mother, father or family deserves this heart ache.
