Did you know that Guinea Fowl Farming is more profitable .

◇Below are the reasons:

▪︎ The mortality rate in Guinea fowls is 0.43%

▪︎ Guinea fowls are disease resistant because their immune system is thrice stronger than indigenous chickens, hence cutting vaccination and medical expenses.

▪︎ Guinea fowls in their nature lay eggs 100-150 eggs, but under good nutrition and management, they can reach up to 200

PARENT STOCK

Many people think broilers just grow fast by luck. But there’s a secret behind it.

Broilers like Ross 308 and Arbor Acres come from strong parent birds. These parent birds are made by crossing Cornish males with New Hampshire females, and also mixing with White Plymouth Rock. The result is a parent stock that lays eggs. These eggs are not for eating. They are used to hatch broiler chicks.

That’s why the egg from a layer is different from that of a parent stock.
Layer eggs are for food.
Parent stock eggs are for hatching broilers.

Parent stock birds are kept in clean farms, fed special feed, and vaccinated properly so they can produce strong and healthy chicks.

Aviagen is one of the international companies that produce these parent birds. Big hatcheries in Nigeria like Agrited, Zartech, and Amo import these parent birds from Aviagen. They now hatch the eggs and supply day-old chicks to farmers.

LIST OF FACTORS THAT AFFECT THE SIZE OF EGGS LAID BY YOUR CHICKEN:👇😍🐔

1. GENETICS:
🐔🥚 Each breed of chicken has a genetically determined egg size range. For example, Rhode Island Reds lay larger eggs than Leghorns.

2. NUTRITION:
🐔🥚 The hen's diet affects egg size. For example, hens need more methionine, cysteine, and lysine to produce larger eggs.
Reducing the hen's protein intake can also reduce egg size.

3. ENVIRONMENT:
🐔🥚 Lighting is an important environmental factor that can affect egg size! Let's explain that: Light significantly impacts the size of eggs laid by hens, primarily through its influence on the bird's reproductive cycle and maturity; longer periods of light exposure, especially during the early stages of a hen's life, can lead to larger eggs by delaying sexual maturity and allowing for increased body weight before egg laying begins.

The hen's body weight also affects egg size. Heavier hens tend to lay larger eggs.

4. HEALTH:
🐔🥚 The hen's health and well-being affect egg quality. Sick or stressed hens produce lower quality eggs.

Overcrowding, noisy environments, and disturbances can stress hens and lead to poor egg quality.

5. OTHER FACTORS:
🐔🥚 The age of the hen can affect egg size! Younger hens lay eggs with stronger shells.

Remember that proper storage is important for maintaining egg quality. Eggs should be kept in a cool, dry place!

Did you know that the color of an egg yolk is influenced by what the hen eats? 🥚

🐔 Hens raised in cages and fed industrial feed typically lay eggs with pale yellow yolks.
🌿 When they have access to some plants and insects, the yolk turns a deeper orange.
🥕 The richest, most vibrant yolks come from free-range hens that eat a varied diet of greens, farm scraps, and bugs.

This is due to carotenoids—natural pigments found in many foods. The more diverse and natural the hen's diet, the brighter, tastier, and more nutritious the yolk becomes!
