⚠️ Awareness post: Parents, Please Be Careful This Ember Period

Something happened that really shook me, and I feel like to share it — especially now that we’re in the ember months.

I was at my POS stand, carrying my baby on my lap.
Then a woman I had never seen before walked up to me and said,
“Hey, your baby is fat, bring her here.”

I smiled politely and told her, “She’s hungry o, let me breastfeed her first.”
But the woman stayed there. She waited and waited for over 30 minutes!
She kept looking at me
At that moment, something didn’t feel right in my spirit.
Why was a stranger waiting so long just to “carry” my baby?
I didn’t stop breastfeeding, and I didn’t let my baby out of my hands.
After some time, she left just like that.

When I thought about it later, I realized how strange that whole scene was.
Anything could have happened.

👉 Please, my people, be careful this season.
We hear stories every day — children missing, people pretending to be kind, and all sorts of strange happenings.
Don’t let anyone you don’t know carry, hold, or get too close to your child, no matter how friendly they sound.

These ember months are full of celebrations, but also full of people looking for opportunities to harm others.
Be vigilant. Be prayerful. Be sensitive.
May God continue to protect all parents and children 🙏

I witnessed something yesterday that brought back a lot of memories.
They came to carry a woman’s grinding machine just because she borrowed money — those Lapo, Grooming, and loan app people.

I’ve experienced this kind of thing before, during the demise of my dad.
My mum’s business went down badly after he passed. Things were so hard that we were almost at the verge of dropping out of school and my big sis was processing something then and she really needs money
My mom had to borrow money, thinking the business would pick up again soon.

But the business didn’t recover as fast as she hoped.
Before we knew it, they came to carry everything in our house.
We slept on the floor for months.
Even after paying back, some of our belongings were gone forever.

That experience traumatized me till today.
That’s why I can’t even advise my enemy to borrow money from Lapo and co.
Some money looks like help, but it can leave you with a lifetime of pain.

As December don dey near, memories just dey rush me.
My mama no dey ever play with Christmas prep — she go make sure my legs dey shine like mirror, buy my Christmas cloth early, keep am somewhere safe.

But me? I go still check am like 100 times before 25th 😭
Just to be sure say my fine cloth still dey there 😂

Now nobody dey buy me Christmas cloth again 😭
I’m just here looking up to heaven like,
“God abeg, who go buy Christmas cloth for me this year?” 😂

I witnessed something some days back that really made me think.
A woman was having a friendly conversation with some people.
She didn’t understand their language, and they started insulting her right in front of her.
She didn’t even know — she just kept smiling.

That moment made me realize something…
It’s not even about knowing your own language alone.
Learn other people’s languages too.
That small knowledge can save you one day.

You can save someone from harm, from embarrassment, even from danger.
You fit just hear someone say something bad or suspicious,
and because you understand, you’ll know how to act fast.

Language is not just for communication — it’s for awareness, for safety, and sometimes for opportunity.
When you understand other people’s tongues, you can protect yourself and even put yourself in better positions in life.
