Gbagyi Community in Plateau State Makes History with Coronation of First Sa-Gbagyi
Jos, Plateau State - The Gbagyi community in Plateau State has made history with the coronation of Musa Katai as the first Sa-Gbagyi of Plateau, marking a significant milestone in the community's cultural and traditional development.
The coronation ceremony, which took place on December 14, 2025, was attended by Gbagyi sons and daughters, as well as well-wishers from across the region. Elder Musa Kwawasu, a respected elder of the community, performed the turbaning ceremony, while ACP Matthew Chidawa a disciplined and humble officer of the Nigeria Police Force, presented the symbolic sword, known as 'Ebe' in Gbagyi culture, to the new Sa-Gbagyi.
The Chairman of Gbagyiza on the Plateau, Comr. Adams Yahaya Adamu congratulated the crowned Sa-Gbagyi, emphasizing that his stool is God-ordained and his rulership brings together Gbagyi people from Nassarawa, Niger, FCT Abuja, Kaduna, and Kogi States.
Musa Katai, a native of Rafin-kunama in Toto LGA of Nassarawa State, has vast experience in leadership, having served various capacities in both Civil service and private entities. The coronation is expected to strengthen the Gbagyi community's cultural identity and promote unity among its people.
