DRAMA AT UNIZIK: LECTURER ATTACKED AFTER ALLEGATION OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT
Tension erupted at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, after a lecturer in the Department of Chinese Studies was physically attacked by some students following an allegation of attempted sexual misconduct involving a female student.
The incident happened on August 15, 2026, and videos of the confrontation quickly went viral on social media.
In the footage, the female student was seen leaving the lecturer’s office carrying what appeared to be the lecturer’s clothes. The lecturer was subsequently confronted by a group of young men and physically assaulted.
The shocking incident sparked outrage, with many people demanding answers about what allegedly happened inside the lecturer’s office.
However, UNIZIK management condemned the attack, describing violence and jungle justice as unacceptable. The university immediately constituted an investigative panel to establish exactly what happened.
The lecturer was identified as Prof. Ifeanyi Sunny Odinye, of the Department of Chinese Studies.
In a later development, UNIZIK suspended Prof. Odinye for three months following preliminary findings concerning violations of the university’s regulations. However, the university made it clear that the sexual-misconduct allegation itself still required further investigation.
So, while the viral video has already generated massive public reactions, the full truth behind the incident is still being established.
What do you think?
should students ever take the law into their own hands, even when they believe a serious offence has occurred?
