Zenith is also a place...

My dad wanted to cement the whole floor outside the main house because it was becoming messy. He said "this place will look better when cement arrives" but just as we were about sealing the whole place, we discovered a young pawpaw tree coming up. Oh! how dad loves to eat pawpaw. He said it'd be a rare privilege to have a pawpaw tree grow in his compound. So the work was done, leaving little ground for the fruit to grow.

Little by little, day after day we'd go out to see how much it had grown, and yes it was growing. But soon, we noticed the roots couldn't hold it anymore. It seemed like the stem would break the next moment. We were worried and dad too wasn't happy because the chances of having his favourite fruit in his garden was becoming slim. When mummy came into the picture, she suggested we make a support for the poor plant. All we needed to do was get a stick, get it rooted to the ground and have it serve as a support to our young pawpaw. Guess what? It worked and our fruit grew until it could stand on its own again.

Like the little pawpaw tree, do you know that a lot of people truly want to grow? Yes! Many people wish they'd grow but sadly, some do not have the energy and stamina to carry on by themselves. Just like the pawpaw in the story/ illustration above, many people are eager to grow but they do not have people who would support them. Could be in business, academics, career, writing, personality/self, family etcetera.

Some children can't grow beyond their families because their parents would not support them. Wives are also suffering lack because husbands have refused to invest in them. Heads of many families are also gradually loosing their position/ homes because some Wives have refused to help them nurture their dreams and vision. It's happening like a cycle; from family to society and back to the family. The bad thing is, some don't even know how to open up or ask for this help (story for another day).

While people are seeking supports to survive or grow, others are on the hunt to bring them down. A certain time ago, I visited grandma's farm and spotted a maize plant trying to grow. She had planted it some days back but it wasn't sprouting out as it should. So I had notice in one of the plants that a stone was impeding on its growth. We have such stones in human nature too, don't be surprised please. So many people want to reach the zenith only to look down and see others. The truth is, zenith is also a place, it's boring if you're there alone.

Life provides us a choice to make. Who would you rather be to people around you; a support or an impediment?
Life is better lived when we help ourselves to be better, it's better when we grow and achieve together. Help someone today. Be the reason someone grows, however.

One day, I'll share my story. A long story it'd be. A story of faith and hope, one with resilience too. Of all the difficult times and the struggle to make a difference.

One day, I'll stand up high as an inspiration to the daring and an elevating force to the weak. As strength to tired frail souls and a shoulder to the feeble and gullible. The spark in dim blur eyes, a flash of ignition and light in the dark.

One day, I'll tell of the true heroes who would rather stay close than vanish. Of the silent helpers offering peace and comfort to the vulnerable. I'll speak of the Aarons who not only believed in the vision but supported in the journey to its reality.

One day, I'll talk of the luring desire to quit the race. The enticing offer to let go. To kill the dream and shatter the hopes of many. Of the temptations to disembark and deter the future glory of the visions yet unborn. It'd be the journals and sleepy diaries of a tired soldier.

One day, I'll share a story of the nights of tears and soberness. The weary nights full of gloom and wishes for daybreak, the lonely walks in dangerous paths and furry of the tarrying dark. I'll tell of the biting doubts amidst the thundering storm.

One day will be a day to tell of the wonderful faithfulness of God. The consistent help and hope in despair. It'd be a day to share with results the good behind determination and resilience. That day it'd be a day of jubilation.

One day, I'll stand up high as a victor singing the songs of victory and praise. The victor with not so colourful stories and bright beginning but the one who stayed true to the course and won.

One day, I believe!

Due to how late I close from work sometimes, I get really tired and can't wait to have my sleep/rest for the day.

Once I'm home, I rush for a shower and proceed to fix dinner or something we'd eat. Sometimes I go home with a backlog of work so I have to continue after fixing my dinner and other home needs.

At first, I noticed the temptation to leave my dirty plates for the next morning; something my mum warned us sternly against. It's not like waking up to dirty plates feels any better.

I'd shrug myself out of bed and hurry with doing the dishes while making sure to keep to time. Multitasking in the process. I hate this feeling truly.

Then I decided it was best to get done with all my itinerary for the day before sleeping, and on time as this could give me the best rest and sleeping experience. It wasn't easy making the adjustments but I thank myself daily for making that decision.

Now, I don't have to carry over any stress to the next day and my day literally feels like less work already.

Y'know, if you refuse to make sacrifices today for a better future tomorrow, you'll soon be dealing with stuff you'd have long dealt with.

Learn to make sacrifices
Learn to adjust to difficult situations
Learn to forgo your comfort for future pleasures and glory.

It may not make any sense to you now, but sincerely, most of the good times we forfeit today can not be compared to the glory of the future.

Something interesting yet absorbing happened in our yard today. I find it fascinating that I can't help but ponder.

My neighbour's son knocked at our door today to ask for hammer. He said his mum had sent him to come ask. After checking the house, I returned to tell him that it was nowhere to be found, probably my dad might have taken it to work. So he left.

When I shut the door, my kid sis asked if I really believed it was his mum that sent him. She said he is fond of asking for things in his mother's name because he knows we'd always give.

We've been neighbours with this family for close to 20 years now. For sometime now, I've seen my mum exchange gifts with the woman -his mother. At Christmas, they're the first we serve our Christmas rice and drinks. She does same when it's sallah or any other celebration. So even as a child, he knows we won't say no when he asks for things in his mother's name.

My sister was right because nobody sent him. He had told a lie in his mother's name just to get a hammer. Unfortunately this time, we couldn't grant his request. It rang a bell.

The other day he came with his older sister to ask for broom and parker. I couldn't comprehend why anyone would not have a broom and parker in their house but I gave it anyway. Now I'm thinking that nobody sent them that day and many other days they've come to ask for weird things.

But that's not my major focus. My concern is the idea of asking things in people's names. God tells us to ask for anything in His name and it'll be given to us (John 16:23b, John 14:13-14, 1 John 5:14).

The name of Jesus has been given as an entry pass to the throne of grace, it is an edge for the believer, for whatever you ask that's in accordance to the will of God will be granted. The name of Jesus has been given to us as a gatefee, a requisite, and access code to receive just anything we can ask for.

That's the confidence my neighbour's son came with. He understood that in his mum's name, he could get just anything. It had worked for him many times before but today was an exception. Like my kid sister knew the little boy's trick, God too knows and considers our intents. He knows when we need the things we ask for urgently. So it's possible to ask or pray in Jesus name and still not receive because God wouldn't give. It's not because God has failed to honour His word but it just might mean that He has weighed your plans and intents and has found that you don't need that at the moment. It may also mean that He wants to teach you a vital lesson or even save that for a more appropriate time. Ponder on these things.

But remember, our mothers had built a relationship that made it easy to access each other. You too need a personal relationship with God. He needs to know you as His child. For our mothers, their relationship was mutual, they were both giving or exchanging as the case may be, and none was parasitic. That's how these things work with God too. Though He promises to grant our request in Jesus name, you too need to create an atmosphere of recognition.

Ask and it shall be given to you but the lord knows they that are His. Happy Sunday.
Shalom!

PS: You are invited to another feast of love as I walk down the aisle with my goodman 😍
