HOW MR PRESIDENT BROKE PROTOCOL FOR HIS ADC
In leadership courses, there's an aspect called servant-leader disposition. I remember the late President Umar Yar'adua emphasised this quality during his short-lived administration.
Yesterday, during the meeting of President Tinubu with the Alaafin of Oyo and some Yoruba traditional rulers, this leadership concept was interestingly displayed.
While the President was thanking the Alaafin for fostering peace and harmony among Yoruba traditional rulers, his Aide-de-camp, who doubles as the Elemona-elect, interjected.
I was first shocked about what the reactions of his Boss, Mr President, would be and what the consequences of interjecting the speech of a whole President of the nation would look like.
You know why? The ADC breached fundamental protocol. When the President is talking, nobody, no matter whom you are, dare talk, let alone interject or disrupt his speech.
Alas! I was dumbfounded at the President's reaction to his ADC. President Tinubu beckoned him to come and speak to the mic. Haaaaa! Another breach of protocol! He said "come, come and tell them".
Heeeeyyyy!!! Ẹ gba mi o. Your ADC should come and use the same microphone 🎤 you're using!!! Nobody shares the microphone with Mr President. That's the protocol.
The ADC majestically walked up to Mr President's microphone and explained, to the audience, the ancestral ties between the Alaafin and the people of Ilemona Kingdom.
He said they are from Ilé Mọlẹ̀ in Oyo Alaafin. The people of Ilé Mọlẹ̀ are the adifa Alaafin (ifa diviners of the Alaafin) in the ancient days. I keep saying it: about 70-80% of the entire Yoruba land has beautiful history to share with the Alaafin.
In all, President Tinubu displayed the concept of servant-leader, which is a rare leadership quality among our political leaders. Indeed, Asiwaju is a protocol breaker. He broke it well. Surely, with PBAT, A*o Villa is lively.
God bless Mr President.
