Frank Gehry (1929–2025)

Today, the architectural world bows its head in honour of a man who refused to let buildings behave.
Frank Gehry didn’t just design structures, he shattered conventions, bent materials into poetry, and turned entire skylines into canvases of daring imagination.

Long before digital tools made fluid geometry “normal,” Gehry was already doing the impossible with paper, cardboard, metal, and instinct. He challenged gravity, tradition, and every safe idea about what architecture should look like. His work reminded us that buildings can move, dance, shimmer, and provoke.

To students, he was a spark.
To practitioners, he was a disruption.
To cities, he was a gift.

Gehry taught us that creativity demands courage, the courage to be misunderstood, the courage to try again, and the courage to dream without apology. His legacy is not just in the titanium curves of the Guggenheim or the rippling forms of Disney Hall, but in the countless architects who now dare to think differently because he existed.

Today, we say goodbye to a boundary-breaker, a rule-challenger, and a mind that saw possibility everywhere.

Rest in peace, maestro.
