I came across this story yesterday and felt very sad heartbroken . Someone's only son, a medical student and a human being was sentenced to death by hanging for allegedly stealing a fowl and had already spent 11 years on death roll. 11 wasted years!! Years enough for him to have become a doctor and even obtain his master degree if he choose.to. What a world!!!
The parents of the young man had an interview with actress Biola Adebayo where they shared the sad story of how their only son who was a medical student was falsely accused of stealing fowl and then subsequently sentenced to de@th by hanging for stealing a fowl.
You can imagine how glad I am when I learned today that Gov Adeleke has intervened, and has ordered action for prerogative of mercy for this young man
According to the source, Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed immediate investigation and pardoning action on the case.
In a statement signed by Governor's Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed on Tuesday evening, the Governor ordered the Attorney General to intervene in the matter and ensure the young man is listed for prerogative of mercy before the end of the year. The statement reads
"I have received the report of a case of a young man reportedly sentenced to death by hanging in Osun State for stealing a fowl. Consequently, I have directed the Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Osun State to commence full investigationinto the matter and initiate processes to grant prerogative of mercy to the young man.
