My first internet business was an eBook that sold thousands of copies and did over 500,000 Thousands+ in the 1+ years that I ran the business. . .

I was advertising on Selar (a top marketing website in Nigeria) when it was the only website for that. I did this every two weeks before people even started using influencer marketing...

Way before most Instagram blogs became a thing...way before Tunde Ednut started his first Instagram...way before Tahoma even became a celebrity online.

And here is my ONE regret...

I Regret not building ONE THING early enough. In the RIGHT market...

You see, I am a very intelligent person. I know I am (or at least I like to think I am) - so because of this;

I am extremely good at spotting patterns and making inferences, knowing why things happen (even when others don't see it) and I am superb at having original thoughts.

Plus I have done this long enough to know that if you are a very ambitious person with big goals - you will most likely regret it too in the end if you make the mistakes I did.
..and it won’t be your fault, we are fighting for survival...and when you are starting from scratch...with no startup capital...very little support - all you’d care about will be THE MONEY

No matter how small...no matter how it comes.

So you won’t think of the long term. But in the end; here is what you would wish you had done - building ONE THING .

You see; there is only two ways people like us can build long lasting wealth & by people like us; i mean people who were not born into riches -

(1) By Media (Blog + recurring revenue from a Newsletter, or a Membership site, or a site or brand that sells subscription to a physical product)

(2) By code (Software)

Everything you do online should be to push one of these two categories
..every success you get is constrained by time, which means - given enough time EVERYTHING will grow: exponentially.

Which means; if you follow the model everyone is doing right now here: make posts, sell courses, make posts, sell courses - one off payments.

You will make money, no doubts - but COMPOUND EFFECT will not be on your side. At least not on the right things.

Yes, you will have the sort of compound effect that gets you a few thousand followers (many of you have 100k across accounts)...you will even mistake this for some form of success...people will respect you, and hang on your words. It is good for your ego, but in the long term it is worth very little.
..and heck; getting a compound effect in your follower list will even boost your income through a couple millions in sales here and there. But take that income & put it into something solid.

Money is not the goal, wealth is - and wealth comes from ownership.

I see that now. Own Media or Code, focus on this EVERY DAY for the next 5 years. - you will thank me for it in the end.

The cheat is Compound Effect.

I have met lots of REAL rich people and i can tell you that they are not smarter than you, in fact most are flat out dumb - but they do one thing for 10 years...sometimes 20 years.

Their only secret is Compound Effect. When you do something long enough the results grow exponentially. For more on this read ‘’Compound Effect’’ by Dareen Hardy.

Which brings me to the next point:

If you are going to do something for that long, then it must be worthwhile right? Something with long term value, in a market where people can pay for or are willing to pay for what you bring.

...so the market you pick to play in is the next most important thing to focusing on one thing.

Every business that lasts sells ONE THING or multiple things to the same set of people multiple times. They optimize to sell and sell to one person..

If we truly want a better Nigeria, we must first reboot the Constitution that governs us..

Nigeria can never become the country we desire if we continue to operate under a constitutional framework that gives too much power to individuals and too little protection to institutions...

Let me say this plainly. In Nigeria, an individual can become more powerful than the institution he occupies..

The President appoints the Chairman of the EFCC. He appoints the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He appoints the leadership of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force and Defence Intelligence Agency.

He also plays a major role in the appointment of the leadership of institutions such as INEC and the judiciary..

These are institutions that are supposed to function according to the law, established procedures and professional standards. Their decisions should not depend on the wishes of one individual..

The same problem exists at the state level.

A governor can have enormous influence over who becomes Speaker of the House of Assembly, who heads an agency, who becomes a commissioner and who occupies important positions within the state bureaucracy..

Imagine a system where one individual can call the Inspector General of Police or the leadership of an anti-corruption agency and expect his instructions to be carried out..

That is where the problem begins...

Institutions become afraid of individuals. Officials begin to think about who appointed them instead of thinking about the law they are supposed to uphold.

A healthy democracy should work differently.

Institutions must be stronger than the individuals temporarily occupying political offices.

Look at the United States. Donald Trump is one of the most powerful political figures in the world, yet American institutions and courts have been able to challenge and restrain presidential decisions.

That is what strong institutions are supposed to do.

The issue is not about whether a president is good or bad. Tomorrow, another person will occupy that office.

The real question is whether our system can survive whoever occupies it.

If Nigeria must develop, we need constitutional reform that reduces excessive concentration of power, strengthens independent institutions and creates genuine checks and balances.

We need a system where the law is stronger than the person.

Let me tell you something that sets me apart from many people. I believe this lesson can help you too....

Growing up, I learned to build a strong defense against distractions and emotional manipulation...

It did not happen overnight...

It came from watching people, making mistakes, learning difficult lessons, and deciding that I would never allow anything outside of me to determine the direction of my life...

Today, I am very difficult to distract.

I am also not someone you can easily manipulate emotionally or pressure into doing what I know is wrong...

One of the greatest gifts I ever gave myself was learning how to say "No."

Not a rude no...

Not an arrogant no..

Just a calm, firm, and peaceful no.

I discovered that every time you say no to the wrong things, you create room to say yes to the right ones....

Life has also taught me another truth that keeps proving itself.

The same people laughing at your failures today may be the first to celebrate your success tomorrow...

So why sacrifice your future trying to impress people whose opinions change so easily?

Many of the people we wear ourselves out trying to please will disappear the moment life becomes difficult...

When the money is gone, they move on.

When the influence fades, they become strangers.

When your dreams take longer than expected, they suddenly become too busy to remember your name.

That realization changed the way I live.

I stopped chasing applause.

I stopped making decisions just to satisfy people.

Instead, I began protecting my peace, my purpose, my time, and my emotions.

That single decision has saved me from many regrets.

I have learned to guard my heart against manipulation.

I have learned to protect my mind from unnecessary noise.

I have learned to protect my time from distractions that often disguise themselves as opportunities.

Even temporary pleasure has never been allowed to become permanent destruction.

Not because I am perfect.

But because I know every distraction comes with a price, and many times, that price is your future.

A lot of people do not fail because they lack intelligence.

They fail because they never learned to protect their focus.

Every opinion moves them.

Every emotion controls them.

Every relationship shapes their decisions.

Every trend steals their attention.

Little by little, they lose themselves without even realizing it.

If you cannot control your emotions, someone else will.

If you cannot protect your attention, something else will consume it.

If you cannot define your values, the world will gladly do it for you.

You must become the gatekeeper of your own life.

Not every invitation deserves your presence.

Not every opportunity deserves your time.

Not every relationship deserves access to your heart.

And not every voice deserves a response.

There comes a time when maturity is measured, not by how much you can endure, but by what you have learned to walk away from.

You either build a defense against distractions, or you slowly become distracted by everything.

The choice is yours.

As for me, I choose discipline over impulse.

I choose purpose over pressure.

I choose peace over people-pleasing.

And I choose lasting fulfillment over temporary excitement.

Remember, I am only your reminder.

I am simply sharing a few of the lessons life has taught me.

Perhaps one day, you will tell me how those lessons helped you build a life you are truly proud of.

Now let me ask you.

This is why the Nigerian government can never win INSECURITY.

Insecurities are not autogenic, it has a source, it's not genetic, it's made.

The only mistake the Nigerian Government is making is fighting individuals instead of fighting the source that made and generated insecurity.
All of us know what I'm talking about.

Insecurities won't stop until the source is eliminated.

Nigerian Government will keep fighting and undefeated masked monsters until they sit their asses and think, investigate, and strategically set a master plan to resolve the source of insecurity in the country.

It's saddening that the Nigerian Government is not concerned about what causes Insecurities and crimes but rather focused on fighting individuals.

You can discharge a bullet on an individual that committed crimes, but as long as the source and the cause of their crimes is still there, then they are like iron monsters that will always birth a new fighter from the burnt body of the former.

Unless this is considered, Nigeria can never win INSECURITIES.

My chicken

It happened on a warm Saturday evening, many years ago, and it has stayed with me in a quiet way ever since...

We had spent almost the whole day on my father’s farm. The sun was harsh, pressing on our backs, and the soil held onto our feet as if it did not want us to leave. By the time we headed home, we were tired, hungry, and strangely expectant...

All day, we had managed on cooked maize. It was not unusual for us then. It was simply life. Still, it left a kind of emptiness that only evening seemed to notice...

When we got home, we did not go straight inside. We stayed on the front balcony, allowing the cool air to settle on our faces. That was when my elder brother arrived from the University...

There was a different energy that came with him. The house changed. Voices grew louder. Even hunger stepped back for a moment.

My father, in his usual calm way, gave an instruction. A chicken was to be prepared. In our home and in our culture, that was not a small thing. Chicken soup with pounded yam was a meal that carried meaning. It spoke of honour, welcome, and importance.

I watched everything closely.

For the rest of us, there was no special setting. We would eat when the meal was ready. But my brother from the University sat with something different in front of him. A whole chicken was placed before him...

I remember how I kept looking at it, more than I looked at my own plate or even my hunger.

Something formed in my mind that day, simple and unspoken. He was not just eating. He was being treated differently. It was a kind of privilege I could not explain, but I could clearly see it...

And I made a conclusion that felt very certain then. If University was the place where life looked like this, then I had to go there.

That was how chicken became my motivation. Not lectures. Not books. Not classrooms. Chicken.

After that day, whenever I thought about the University, I saw myself returning home in the same way. I saw my father giving the same instruction. I saw someone going out to prepare that same meal, this time for me.

It felt small, but in that season of my life, it carried weight.

Now, I look back and smile at how simple my understanding was. Life has a way of slowly correcting what we once believed.

Still, I wonder. How many life dreams begin from something as ordinary as a meal?
