It is time for the Igala people to wake up to the harsh realities of our numerous problems. Igala land is infected and plagued by poverty, and it is not an exaggeration to say that the land is a refugee camp of poverty. The poverty is evident in the lack of basic amenities, unemployment, and a general sense of desperation.
The poverty in Igala land is a reflection of the poverty in the minds of the Igala people. It is time to face the reality and tell ourselves the truth. Our attitude has failed us as a people, and we need to undergo an attitudinal revolution for us to grow.
Our problems are many but the two major problems ones that need to be addressed are:
1. Lack of Productivity and Investment:- The Igala people lack the attitude of productivity and investment. The few notable investments in Igala land that are productively engaging the people are owned by the middle class business men and women at home who are struggling to operate on small and medium scales. Most Igala big names have investments outside Igala land, but they don't come back home to invest. I do not know any of the Igala big names who have any investment anywhere in Igala land that is productively engaging the Igala people. If you know of any, please educate me. We only hear how powerful, how successful and how connected that they are outside.. The only time they come home is to participate in politics and that has caused us more harm than good. Politics has divided us more than love should unite us.
2. Showing Off :- The Igala people are quick to show off their wealth without consolidating it. This has put unnecessary pressure and led to trouble for many.
Other ethnic groups, like the Igbo, have mastered the art of making money quietly and reinvesting it. They don't feel the need to show off their wealth at the early stage, and this has helped them build sustainable businesses and wealth.
But as soon as an average Igala man makes one tenth of what these guys are silently making and turning, he goes around with battalion of police guards and siren to attract attentions. That has put an unnecessary pressure and a heavy push that landed many of them in troubles.
In some communities, we have sets of millionaires who are in the fifth generation of wealth. It mean that one person made money from where he empowered a set that empowered the others to the forth set. How many Igala millionaires can you point at who has empowered someone that can empower another set. It means all our riches starts and end in the first generation. No continuity.
It is time for the Igala people to return to the drawing board and rethink their priorities. Politics is not the only means to success, and we need to explore other opportunities. Igala land is blessed, and the people are intelligent and industrious. We just need to refocus and work towards sustainable growth.
In conclusion, let us learn to make money in humility, with the intention to grow, reinvest, diversify, and expand. Let us empower others and distribute wealth to develop our land.

God bless Igala land, and God bless the Igala sons and daughters.
