Nigeria’s formal financial inclusion rate has risen to 73%, representing about 87.2 million adults, according to the 2026 Access to Financial Services in Nigeria Survey.

Formal credit access has also nearly doubled to 10%, with women business owners and farmers among those increasingly accessing formal financial services.

The Federal Government says it has cleared all inherited pension liabilities dating back to 2007 through a ₦758bn intervention bond, providing relief to 957,045 beneficiaries nationwide.

PenCom also says accrued pension rights for federal employees due to retire up to December 2029 have already been credited to their Retirement Savings Accounts.

Nigeria has opened its 2026 oil licensing round, offering 40 blocks across land, shallow water and deepwater terrains to attract fresh upstream investment.

Meanwhile, crude oil and condensate production has risen to 1.82 million barrels per day, with more than 73 rigs now active.

NUPRC has also approved 120 Field Development Plans since 2024, representing about $47.6bn in capital commitments.

The Federal Government and Lagos State have agreed to work together on the proposed 24/7 Energy Zones pilot, starting in Lagos.

DisCos have also committed to taking more power and delivering steady, reliable electricity along the Lagos corridor.

The pilot is also planned for the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano and Enugu–Port Harcourt corridors.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo says the removal of the fuel subsidy helped the Federal Government improve liquidity and mobilise about $500 million for the reconstruction of Lagos airport and other aviation infrastructure.

He says the funds were raised without borrowing, as Nigeria’s foreign reserves also strengthened.
