The first time I took a teaching job was in 2016. I was fresh out of the university, I needed money, and I had no teaching experience except the zeal that I could do or become anything I wanted so long as I committed myself to it.
I found a school in the same town where I had schooled, and they were hiring. I remember drafting my application letter that morning, and I smiled, knowing so well that I was an introvert who really did not like verbal communication, except it was more intellectual than free gisting.
For some reason unknown to me, the school owner just accepted that I was fresh out of the system and willing to work immediately. Maybe it was because the man wanted sharp, sharp teachers then or because fresh graduates were easier to employ since he could easily tell us that we had no experience and wanted to manage us or something.
Well, I will never know again, but the thought of the two salaries he still hasn't paid me until today is probably proof that he took me and a few other fresh graduates in because he wanted to exploit our desperation for a job.
Anyway, I started taking three classes for two subjects within my area of major (Sociology), and I began shining. After a month, he added two more subjects, and I had five subjects for three classes in total.
My God! Well, it was either I continued or stayed at home and waited for “Mommy and Daddy give me,” as it is called. That was not definitely me. I have always disliked depending on others for survival.
I did that routine for about four months or so, and I got paid twice. The other two months' pay has not reached me till today sha.

This is an excerpt from my book, “7 Lessons for the Young Adult,” which, God's willing, will be ready by next year.
The lesson from this story is simple: If you set your mind to achieving anything and you have a big goal before you, it will only take a while before you achieve it.
However, the fact that you are willing does not mean that your path will be free of challenges and mountains you’d have to climb.
How is your day going?
