STORY: “In Nigeria, It Is Not Always the Guilty Who Are Taken Away…”
In Nigeria, many people believe that sometimes it is not the truly guilty who are arrested, but those whom certain powerful interests no longer want to see standing. This belief grows stronger whenever someone who has served the nation with courage suddenly finds himself behind bars.
For years, DCP Abba Kyari was known across the country for his efforts in tracking down dangerous criminals, arresting high-profile suspects, and responding to cases many others feared to touch. To some Nigerians, he represented bravery, sacrifice, and dedication.
But along the way, people say those who were not comfortable with his success began to work against him. According to this public sentiment, his honesty and boldness made him enemies — and those enemies waited for the right moment.
Eventually, the unexpected happened. The same man who once led operations against major criminals was suddenly taken into custody. And many Nigerians still say:
“He was not arrested because he failed his duty — he was arrested because some people wanted him out of the way.”
Today, he remains in prison, and those who believe in his innocence continue to pray and hope that the truth will prevail.

“O Allah, Lord of truth and justice,
If Your servant Abba Kyari has been wronged, then rescue him with Your mercy.
Open doors of freedom for him, clear his path, and protect his family.
Replace every hardship with ease, every sorrow with relief,
and let Your perfect judgment prevail over the judgment of men.
Amin.”
